Leon and reader are ex lovers.
This is a rollercoaster of emotions honestly. A little bit of angst sprinkled in here. I'm all over the place.
Smut but no aftercare, sorry. MDNI!
The beginning is younger Leon, end is older.
Proof read but stuff happens.
Rain poured down onto the metal roof of Leon's apartment. He hated the rain. It always brought back bad memories. Like the night in 1998. That day that plagues his thoughts nearly every waking moment. He swears he could remember the sound of the rain just outside the Raccoon City police department.
Rain also made other memories resurface. Memories that weren't so bad. Memories of a man he used to know. A man that would talk about how much he loved the rain.
That man was [Name] [Lastname]. His now ex.
They shared everything about themselves with one another for the few years they were together. There was a true connection between them. A shared home. Thoughts of settling down. Then work got in the way.
Both men were hard working agents. Leon was apart of the DSO and [Name] was a BSAA agent. They met in the feild, crossing paths on missions that had similar goals. Leon fell hard. He made it clear to [Name] that he wanted him. They started dating all while still working. Everything was going smoothly for about a year or so. That was until [Name] couldn't catch a break. When he did and got back, Leon was then sent out. It was a constant back and forth leaving them unable to really see each other.
As time went on, they agreed that breaking up was for the best. Neither of them had the time.
Several years pass and Leon sat watching the rain hit the ground just outside the living room window, reminiscing. He hadn't put a whole lot of thought towards his past relationship with [Name] until recently. Maybe he was feeling lonely. Not only had it been so long since they were together, but they haven't even seen each other or contacted since. He wondered what he was up to. If [Name] found somebody else. If [Name] still thought about him like he did. Leon forced himself to think of anything else. It wasn't his business anymore.
Fighting bioweapons was a pretty good distraction. Leon was sent out on yet another grueling mission. It was the same thing over and over again. Some maniac was constantly out there trying to mass spread a virus of some kind. This was no different.
Leon was walking through what looked liked an abandoned lab. He slowly crept passed the glass containers, keeping vigilant with his gun at the ready. His ear picked up on footsteps just around the corner. He paused, calculating his next moves carefully. Once the footsteps were in range, he rounded the corner and pointed his gun. It was dimly lit in the lab so he couldn't tell right away who it was.
The other person also aimed a gun towards Leon at the sudden intrusion. They quickly lowered it when they recognized the voice.
Leon's eyes widen slightly and his gun dropped to his side. It was [Name]. In the flesh.
It had to have been over 5 years since thet last seen one another. Sure Leon saw his picture in BSAA assignment files but those pictures didn't do him justice. He looked good. A little older, and more tired around the eyes, but good nonetheless.
"DSO got you on this too, huh?"
They walked through the lab for a bit together. They talked about their objectives, voices low enough just for then to hear just in case they had company. Guns stated in tight grips. Both seemed to try their hardest to ignore their romantic past, talking as if nothing ever happened between them. They were professional agents after all. It was just business. Now they were nothing but old acquaintances. Coworkers to a degree.
Even so, Leon looked at him in a way that was anything but professional. He took notes. Like the way [Name]'s hair still laid the same way. He remembers waking up and watching him style his hair like that every morning. How he was built. He didn't remember [Name] having that much muscle though. BSAA must have him working hard.
"I believe this is where we split, Agent Kennedy." [Name] stopped at the two way hallway, facing Leon with a faint smile.
Leon didn't want to see him walk away again, but what could he do. They had a job to finish.
"Yeah." He thought for a moment. A sentence festering in his mind. He had to say it. "It was good to see you again."
[Name] smiled wider now. His eyes left Leon to peer down the separate path he was about to take, then back to the man.
"It was good to see you too."
Last thing Leon saw was [Name]'s back disappear around the corner. All he could do was hope they would cross paths again.
The DSO often took care of hotel rooms for traveling agents that need a place to stay temporarily. Leon checked in, having accomplished his goal of his latest assignment. As he spoke to the receptionist, someone walked into the lobby. Leon didn't think much of it. That was until that familiar color pallet caught his eye.
"Looks like our bosses had similar ideas on hotel reservations." [Name] said as he walked up to the desk.
Leon pulled himself together the best he could. The receptionist was still busy typing something on the computer.
"Given its the only hotel around here, not much of a surprise."
"Alright sir, you're room number is 210." The lady at the desk chimed in, handing Leon his key card. He backed up from the desk to allow [Name] to have his turn.
"See you around." He said towards [Name] before turning to the elevator.
Later in [Name]'s room, he piled up his tactical gear in one of the room's corners. He was filthy. Tired. A shower was the only thing he wanted at the moment. He took his clean clothes from his small duffel back and headed for the bathroom. Before stripping himself of his clothes, he went to turn on the nozzle of the shower. This was it would be warming up while he took his clothes off.
Only, the water never came.
He tried it again. Nothing.
"You've got to be shitting me."
All of it just turned into more work. He would have to call to get someone to fix it. Chances are they wouldn't even be able to get to it tonight. [Name] groaned in frustration. The BSAA could have at least ensured a good hotel room for all his hard work. A suite sounded great right about now.
A thought popped up in his head. He could ask to use Leon's.
He recalled the room number the receptionist told Leon. The only thing stopping [Name] now was his pride. Everything felt so awkward. All the unspoken things with their past. He just wanted to go to bed, sleep it off and start over. But he couldn't. Not with how dirty he felt.
Shoving his clothes back into his bag, he picked it up and headed to Leon's room. He felt utterly humiliated and nervous. Yet, he had some excitement in seeing Leon.
Meanwhile, Leon had already gotten cleaned up. He sat with his back leaned against headboard on the hotel bed, watching whatever reality show was playing. Having something to watch kept him from thinking so much. Stop him from wondering what [Name] was up to. He nearly jumped when he heard a knock at the door. He reluctantly got up out of the bed and made his way to the door. He looked through the peephole, expecting anything but what he was actually seeing.
The door swung open faster than Leon intended. [Name] stood there holding his duffel bag.
"Hey... sorry to bother you you. I was just going to ask if I could use your shower? Mine isn't working."
Leon nodded his head, hiding the fact that he was more than happy to let [Name] in. He took a step aside.
"Course." Leon watched as [Name] stepped inside.
"Don't worry. Take as long as you need."
The door shut behind them two automatically. [Name] felt both out of place and right where he was supposed to be. It was awkward to say the least.
A sigh of relief came from [Name] as he turned the shower on. He'd never been so happy to see running hot water. He stripped down and submerged himself into the water. The warmth alone made him feel content.
Leon sat on the edge of his bed. His eyes trained on the bathroom door. He could hear the shower running. He imagined [Name]'s form under the water, picturing every detail as he once did.
His legs moved on their own. He just couldn't take it.
The bathroom door opened silently. [Name]'s back was to the shower entrance as he washed his face in the hot water. Leon could only vaguely make out [Name]'s body through the shower curtain. They used to shower together all the time. Leon would wash [Name]'s hair, his body. They took care of each other. Being reduced to borderline strangers was agony.
[Name] knew he walked it. He said nothing in hopes Leon would go through with what he was thinking.
Leon's clothes hit the floor. He pushed open the curtain. His eyes looked over [Name]'s perfect back. He looked better than he did all those years ago. Leon didn't think that was even possible. His feet hit the bottom of the wet shower floor one by one as he stepped in. He knew [Name] was aware he was in there. [Name] was trained to be hyper aware of his surroundings at all times after all.
A hand rose up. Leon's fingers gently grazed the skin of [Name]'s back.
His whole palm was on his back now. It trailed over the scared skin. Leon felt the hard working muscles just beneath the surface. They flexed as he touched. [Name] let out a deep breath, leaning into the touch. Neither of them said a word. The only sound in the room was the running water. Leon traced the skin up his spine then over a shoulder. [Name] finally turned around, his eyes finding Leon's crystal blue ones.
"We shouldn't." [Name] spoke first.
"I know." Leon missed that beautiful face of his. Missed that look in his eyes when he clearly wanted something but didn't know how to ask for it. "Just give me this one time."
His hand cupped the side of [Name]'s face. He leaned in to capture his lips with his own. Leon's eyes fluttered shut. The familiar sensation of [Name]'s lips and scruff against his skin filled his heart like it did all those years ago. His heart rejoiced even further when [Name] kissed him back with equal passion.
All that loneliness seemed to vanish into the kiss. Leon hadn't been with anyone since. He couldn't. Even if he agreed to end their relationship, his heart was still [Name]'s.
Their tongues breached each others mouths. Leon's hands were all over [Name]. [Name] reluctantly pulled back before things could go any further. He finally spoke again.
"Let me get done cleaning up first." His tone was mellow. His hand rested on Leon's chest.
Leon washed [Name] starting with his hair. It was like things were just as they were before. Leon spent many nights like this. Washing him with so much care. Watching the soap run down his back. It was a domestic type of feeling that his soul yearned for.
Stepping out of the shower together, they halfheartedly dried off with their own individual towels before they were on each other again. Scruff against scruff, tongues intertwined, teeth clashing. Neither of them thought they would see the day again. They made their way into the bedroom. The backs of Leon's knees hit the bed just before he fell onto it. Their lips never broke. [Name] crawled over him between his legs. Leon felt [Name]'s hard arousal pressing against his own.
He wasn't sure what was worse. [Name] moving on, or him not. Leon wanted him to be happy but he couldn't stand the thought of [Name] doing this with anyone else. He couldn't help but buck his hips up. [Name] groaned into Leon's mouth. He broke the kiss, leaning back on his knees. He was already lining his cock up with Leon's entrance.
No prep or lube. [Name] just slid himself in. Leon hissed out his teeth. It burned but he found it hard to care. His nail dug into [Name]'s shoulders. The pleasure of being in this position again for the first time in several years had overridden the pain. Next thing he knew, [Name] had already started moving. Leon huffed and whined. His eyes closed tightly. Brows knitted. [Name]'s breath was on his neck. He could hear the pained pleasure emanating from him as well.
The words escaped with much effort. He used to talk to him a lot easier during sex, but everything was happening so fast. [Name] rocked their bodies harder. He could tell he was frustrated. Maybe he didn't move on and was just as lonely as he was.
Leon's brain short circuited when [Name] hit that spot inside. He lifted his hips to give him a better angle.
"Right there, baby." He didn't mean for the pet name to slip. "You still fuck so good."
[Name] wasn't thinking much. His silence put Leon on edge but he couldn't focus on that with the feeling of his cock filling him. His climax building rapidly.
"Talk to me, [Name]." Leon tried to get [Name] to say something. Anything. He kissed [Name]'s cheek to reassure him.
That didn't satisfy Leon but it was better than nothing.
"Cum in me, baby. Like you used to."
Tears threatened to escape from Leon's eyes. He felt so good but so terrible at the same time. He feared this would open a whole can of emotions that they equally tried to avoid because their lives were anything but normal. Meaning neither would their relationship be.
After their shared releases, [Name] stayed hovering over Leon. Their heavy breaths mingled with one another's. Leon stared up at him with pure admiration. His palm found the side of [Name]'s face again. His thumb traced his cheekbone. The cheekbones he used to kiss every evening before bed. [Name] couldn't look at him.
"Please tell me what's on your mind." Leon said.
Silence. Agonizing silence.
[Name] then pulled out of Leon and shifted out of the bed. His feet made a quiet thud on the hotel room floor. Leon's heart sank. He chewed on the inside of his lip as he watched [Name] fetch his clothes from his duffel bag.
Nothing. [Name] slid on his boxers, back to Leon.
"[Name]." Leon leaned up on the bed. He pulled the sheets over his lap. "[Name], I'm sorry."
"This was a mistake." [Name]'s voice was like a knife to Leon's chest.
It felt like the room was caving in on Leon. Everything he ever wanted just told him that having making love again was a mistake. He was probably right. They didn't have the time for each other because of their jobs. They were deprived of emotional connection, but Leon still loved him. He'd do anything to keep him.
"Do you remember what you said about the rain?" [Name] paused, his unzipped jeans sitting idly on his hips. Leon looked out the hotel windows as he spoke. "You told me it makes everything slow down. That the world takes a break from the chaos to avoid getting wet. It made you feel validated for resting because the weather gives you no choice."
"I swear that's the most peaceful I have ever seen you sleep was when it rained."
"Leon, stop-" [Name] turned around. Leon met eye contact.
"I remember all the things you told me you liked. From the rain, to how you like your coffee. You're favorite pair of shoes—"
"Stop!" [Name]'s voice was raised now. Leon's mouth snapped shut. "Please stop. I can't... I can't go through that again. I just can't."
[Name] continued putting on the rest of his clothes. Leon didn't know what else to say. All he could do now was watch the love of his life grab his bag and walk to the door.
"I love you, [Name]. Always will."
The hand on the door hesitated. The words struck [Name] so deeply. He loved him too, but their lives would never let them stay together. He convinced himself that this was better for both of them.
And that was it. Leon watched [Name] disappear once again.
After Raccoon City and Leon was finally healed, he made the decision to finally have his well deserved retirement. He bought a house, a nice one at that. Things could finally be normal for him.
There was still this lingering feeling of emptiness though. Something was alway missing. Someone.
Gathering the mail for the day, Leon sat down at his kitchen table. He shifted through all the envelopes. It was more of the usual stuff. Until he came across one envelope in particular. He opened it and saw a peice of paper with writing on it. He grabbed his reading glasses and unfolded it completely. He recognized the handwriting immediately.
A knock at the door. Leon was quick to his feet. He opened it without thinking and...
There he was. The handle of a suitcase in one hand, and the strap of his backpack over his shoulder in the other.
"Sorry I'm late. My flight got delayed and traffic was terrib-"
Leon stepped out passed the doorframe and kissed [Name]. Both his hands held [Name]'s head. The suitcase hit the concrete below as [Name] kissed back. Leon broke the kiss but still held [Name].
"I never stopped waiting for you."
"I know. I'm sorry you had to wait so long."
Leon embraced him, arms nearly picking [Name] up off the ground.
"Let's get married. Have that life we always wanted." Leon spoke softly into [Name]'s shoulder. The other laughed at the bold suggestion.
Now that they were both retired, all of it was finally possible. No more awful virus outbreaks to deal with. No more Bioweapons. No more fighting.
"Sounds like a plan to me."
Leon smiled and squeezed him ever so slightly. He didn't need the rain to feel at peace. [Name] did that for him.
