This is one of the first and favorite poems I've written. Maybe it's just some emo shit but I'm still proud of it.

THE KNOCK

"I've lived in the same house all my life.

The door to my room stays locked and guarded for the fear of what will wander in if I don't.

It's a mistake I've made before and one I will never make again.

Somethings out there, pounding on the door begging to be let in.

It yearns for the chance to be together at last, and never be alone again.

It brings it’s fist to the door, over and over until it's knuckles are broken and bloody,

Until blood seeps through the gaps, crimson on the white carpet of my room.

It’s been knocking for years.

The rhythmic beat of its fists against the wood have become the soundtrack of my life,

A constant in the background of everything I do.

I’m too scared to let it in, scared of what would happen to me if I did.

But, I’ve lived in the same house all my life,

Because I’m too scared of what would happen to me if I left."

addition: I understand wanting to wait until things feel Right to write. but as someone who also contends with adhd and The Situations there is not going to be a time where it magically feels perfect to write. "I'll do it someday / later / when..." is an endless delay. you've gotta crack open a document and write something even if it sucks ass because if you don't get your brain used to the habit it's not gonna stick. the time you can start is Now.

Jax x gn! reader

description; you are a new character in the circus, Jax is expecting a freak out, he doesn't know that you are just built different.

warning; may be ass, never written on tumblr before. probably ooc? idk. they/them used for reader, no y/n

They had just gotten back from yet another adventure, filing one by one out of the portal ready to go relax, when a sudden pop and crashing sound stopped all conversation. "Huh cool, another newbie." Jax deadpanned as a groan came from the figure that laid face down on the floor. "Another human has entered the circus! We've gotta get Zooble over here for introductions!" Caine announced, summoning Zooble with a snap of his fingers. "What-" "Now then! Welcome human! To The Amazing, Digital, Circus!!!!" The words popped into the air as Caine floated in a grand stance.

Seconds went by like this, music playing from nothing ending before Caine looked down at you on the floor. "Uh- hello?" He floated over to your still figure. "Are they okay...?" Ragatha stepped forward as Jax crossed his arms with a smirk on his face, "Oh look, they're dead already." "Jax! Don't say that-" Ragatha turned towards Jax as the two started bickering.

"Uhh, I think someone should check on them..?" Gangle said softly, only Zooble and Pomni hearing. "Yeahhh.... I'll.. go do that?" Pomni walked towards you, watching as Caine poked you. She hesitantly placed a hand on your shoulder, "Hello? Are you, uh, okay?" She lightly shook you. You didn't move. "Uhm, Caine? Do you know what happened?" She asked.

Caine hummed as he looked down at you, poking you with his cane once more. "No clue, my dear! I can't say, this, has ever happened before?" Bubble appeared. "Are they dead? Tasty." "Bubble no-" He licked your face and you sat up. "Huh? What happened?" You looked around.

Everyone was staring at you, Jax and Ragatha having stopped their arguing. Jax shoved her away and started walking towards you. "Well it looks like you aren't dead, what a pity." He shrugged. You examined all of their faces, before looking down at yourself. Seeing your new, cartoony avatar, you brought your hands to your face to feel the vr headset you had put on, finding nothing but your face. "What..?"

You look around at all of the characters around you again, seeing their pitying expressions, well except for Jax and Kinger. Jax looked amused and Kinger, just looked kinda lost.

You all sit in silence for a minute before you stand up. "Sooo, whats happening?" Pomni clears her throat. "Well-" "You, dear human, are in The, Amazing, Digital, Circus!!" Caine cuts her off. You stare as the words appear from thin air, swatting confetti out of your face. "Anddd, you kinda, can't, leave?" Pomni awkwardly adds, hating that she has to break the news to you. You look at her.

"Oh. Okay?" You look away for a moment before turning back. "Sooo, whats your name?" You ask. Jax scoffs, "That's it? Not gonna freak out or nothing? Boring." He walks over to you. "What's there to freak out about?" You ask, looking genuinely confused. Jax stares at you. "Oh, I don't know! Maybe being trapped here for all of eternity?"

You shrug. "Either this is all just a dream and I'll just wake up eventually, or this is all real and in which-case; freaking out will solve nothing? I don't have many options here." Jax shakes his head, "But wheres the drama? The intrigue?! That's such a boring reaction to finding out you're stuck in this place. You're gonna bore me to tears!" He's wrapped an arm around your shoulders, clutching his chest dramatically. "Is that all you care about? Reveling on the mental breakdowns of strangers?" You stare him in the eyes. "Uh, yeah? Thats kinda my brand?" He grins.

"Oh, sorry then. Let me fix that. Oh no! Whatever will I do! I put on some freaky headset now I'm trapped here! Somebody please save me, I don't know how I'd go on like this!" You throw your hand to your forehead and pretend to faint with fake tears in your eyes. "Ayeee that's more like it! Amazing performance." Jax playfully punches your shoulder as he lets go of you. "Thanks, I took theater in high school."

"Well, besides, that-" Ragatha walked towards you with a tight lipped smile, throwing a glance at Jax. "I, am Ragatha. That's Jax, he is, certainly, uh, a character-" "The best, character, thank you very much." "I'm Pomni?" She adds. "-And over there is Zooble, Gangle, and Kinger." They wave respectively as Ragatha finishes.

"AHH! Whats going on? OH hi! Have we met before?" Kinger startles. You laugh, "Can't say we have." "And I am your glorious ring leader, Caine!" He pops up in front of you. "And I'm Bubble! Blehh" He sticks his tongue out.

You nod. "Nice to meet you all then. My name is-" you cut yourself off as you realize that you don't remember your name. "Hmm, well !^*% I don't remember. $#!^ I can't swear?" "Well of course not, silly human! This show is rated E for a reason! Made for all ages to enjoy, can't have any nonsense going on now can we?" Caine's eyes slowly drift over towards you, and you push them away with one hand. "Well #@$^ that blows. Well it seems I don't remember my own name so that sucks." "Eh, its normal. None of us did!" Jax pokes you. "Just pick something, at least you'll have a choice." Ragatha smiles at you. You look up at Caine with a mischievous grin. "Meretrix." He buffers for a moment. "Nope! Trix it is!" "Well dang, close enough." You mumble. "What was that about?" Pomni asks. "It's Latin for a word that starts with a 'w' and rhymes with ore." You shrug. "Worth a shot."

Jax laughs. "Maybe you aren't so bad after all!" He elbows you as Caine mutters about dead languages and censorship coding.

"Well Trix! Guess it's about time I take you on the grand tour of the place! Off we go!" Caine grabs your hand and zaps you away as all the others gather back together. The only thing they all know, is that this will surely be interesting.

This may be ass, honestly. Just something fun I wanted to write out. idk. will probably write at least another part that's actually Jax and reader centric, don't know when tho. and yeah, meretrix means whore in Latin lol
