IT’S OFFICIAL; OUR FIRST PLOT DROP IS HERE! As you’ve probably noticed over the course of the past week, the Derry Inquirer has been releasing information about a handful of missing children in town. In a town like Derry, this isn’t exactly uncommon, but such a multitude of similar crime hasn’t happened in the small Maine town in roughly… twenty seven years. For those who have been around long enough to know what happened last time, this is not a matter to take lightly, and there will certainly be more names on the list for missing persons before all is said and done.
But, for those who have never witnessed such horror, a new bout of fear is likely to dwell within you. Fear, being the key word. The very thing you’re most afraid of, embodied in a creature so vile it will not let anything stand in it’s way to feed, specifically on children.
While body parts continue to turn up around town and strange happenings seem to gather in places like the woods and the sewers (don’t even get me started about how odd the old house on Niebolt street seems), it’s as though only one thing can explain the phenomenon. A predator. A monster.
It.
Adjacent with the missing children in town, the folks of Derry will now have the opportunity to not only witness things such as yellow eyes in the darkness or shadows in the corner, but you will be able to interact with Pennywise, in para form. We have selected a writer, whose alias will remain anonymous, to take on the role of the horrific being, giving you all the opportunity to delve your characters into new and scary interactions, incorporating the themes of fear and horror in your writing through the wonderful works of Stephen King!
You can follow Pennywise’s blog HERE, and can direct any questions to the main! We can’t wait to see what you all come up with!
oh, i know all that stuff. he's told me that. i just...i don't know, i hardly see him anywhere. it worries me. he's out late a lot. what do you guys do at 1 in the morning?
Ah, your brother is probably in the "inner circle" then. (I keep telling them not to call it that; they think it sounds friendlier.) Basically, it's the group of people who run stuff, and the bigger The Sharing gets, the more people we need in that group and the more that group is needed.
The Sharing is a non-profit company, but it's still got it's share of behind the scenes issues. At 1am, any number of things could have happened. Maybe one of the kids in our anti-bully program could be in need of help. One time, I was out until 3 in the morning because a pipe broke in an office we were using.
Stuff happens, and I'm sorry it's getting between you and your brother. I'm sure he'd like you to be around more, too.
what do you actually DO at your sharing meetings? my brother is ALWAYS there and i don't get it.
What's to get? We're out to make people better. Our community better. We don't just hangout and have fun. We participate. We clean up parks. Do charity drives. Discourage bullying. Tutor younger students.
We believe humanity can be better with a little addition to your life.
Meanwhile, the other Berenson...
Tom finally stopped sulking when he realized that Temrash 252 was actually enjoying his quiet drive back to the "inner circle" Sharing meeting. So, he tried using reasoning to get his way. <My brother is not an Andalite.>
"I didn't say he was."
<You think he is.>
Temrash 252 checked his mirrors and flipped the turn signal. "I do not think Jake Berenson is an Andalite," he said carefully. A host couldn't read a yeerk's thoughts, but sometimes they could be decent lie detectors. He hadn't been this careful about keeping such powerful suspicions to himself just to be potentially betrayed by a host switch.
<Really? Because you've been hinting kind of hard. In fact, you've been climbing up his ass ever since that Andalite crash-landed. Before that, you ignored him when you didn't off-hand suggest joining The Sharing for the hell of it.>
"I think Jake would be a great addition to our group," Temrash 252 laughed.
<You keep your filthy hands off my brother!> Tom raged. Again. As predictable as ringing a doorbell.
"You mean your hands? I don't have any, remember? But I have you. I can make you do whatever I want," he said, slowly stretching each of those last words like he was savoring their flavor.
<Shut up.> Tom was not very good at reasoning. Not against Temrash 252. Temrash, who knew him better than closest friends and family... and laughed.
"If there's nothing wrong with your brother, if he's just a normal human kid, fine. Whatever. He doesn't take the bait, and I don't reel him in," Temrash 252 turned onto a side street for a shortcut. "But if I'm right, then he will bite, Tom. And when he does?"
<Shut. Up.>
"I'm going to strangle the life out of him."
<Shut up.>
"I'm going to cut him bloody."
<Shut up.>
"I'm going to burn him to atoms, Tom."
<SHUT UP!>
"And I'm going to do it with your hands."
There was a tingling at the ends of Tom's fingertips. Pins and needles. Temrash 252 laughed wickedly. No flinching. No white knuckles. No breathing difficulty. No seizures. None of the usual symptoms of host rebellion. Because Tom wasn't rebelling. He was too indecisive to rebel. Too lost and helpless. He just willed Temrash 252 gone, and the signal manifested as a mild tingling sensation.
"That was the most pathetic attempt ever," Temrash giggled. Giggled! "I'm telling all my friends in the pool about it."
<You don't have friends. You have goals.> Tom didn't know that, since Temrash never let him in like some of the yeerks of voluntary hosts or the more witless yeerks, but he was pretty sure it was true.
Temrash 252 smirked. "So what if you did? Rebel, I mean? What if you actually had the balls to murder us successfully? What would poor little Jakey do then?"
<According to you?> Tom spat. <Save the world.>
Temrash 252's fingers tightened on the steering wheel, but it had nothing to do with his host. Nothing at all.
Melissa: Fluffer is a very sweet kitty. He would never scratch anyone.
Cole: can I pet him?
Me: Yes. Chapman should definitely experience Zach.
Me: I mean Zach should meet the cat.
Rachel: I still can't believe you texted Melissa's dad about Zach.
Me: he texted me
Melissa: What?
Rachel: You texted back.
Me: as organization coordinator for The Sharing
Rachel: Yeah my cousin talked to your dad. Super weird.
Cole: *tries to pet the kitten*
Me: he's organization coordinator
Me: I'm program coordinator
Me: Zach is weird
Rachel: Sounds like everything is super coordinated.
Cole: Gah! it slashed my hand... I need that for moving the wheels.:(
Me: Well, lately it seems like we need a wildlife coordinator. (>.>)
Melissa: Oh he is just such a sweet baby. Who is my sweet baby?
Rachel: I'm sure it's not that bad, Cole.
Rachel: Really? Are you taking Sharing trips to the Gardens?
Cole: *bleeds profusely*
Rachel: Suck it up, Cole.
Cole: ok
Melissa: He's just a big old ball of cuddly fluff
Cole: guys, I'm gettng dizzy...
Rachel: That's not sucking it up, Cole.
Me: Somehow critters keep ending up in our meetings.
Cole: I see a light...
Rachel: Really? Weird. Can't imagine why.
Cole: *tries to roll towards the light.*
Rachel: Maybe you should stop using barbecue sauce for deoderant.
Me: Cute.
Me: So...
Me: Cassie's parents know about that shit, right?
Rachel: Sorry?
Cole: *crashes wheelchair into the wall*
Me: Wildlife
Me: keeping them in the wild
Rachel: I guess. Making them heal up. Not much useful info if you want to control them.
Rachel: They're doctors. Tom.
Cole: guys, can someone call 911?
Me: well, one works at a zoo
Me: nevermind then
Rachel: Cole, maybe you should try just washing it off in the bathroom and sticking a band-aid on it.
Rachel: It's just a cat scratch.
There has got to be other people on the entire goddamn internet.
I'm hungry. Guess I'll pick up a snack then make sure my idiot brother is actually in bed by curfew.
