He had been out of line earlier and he knew it. But he had had feelings for her for years, and seeing her again had made all those feelings come back. When he’d kissed her, he had thought, just for a moment, that maybe she felt the same way. For the rest of the day he had not broached the subject, but he couldn’t let this go unsaid, not if there was a chance.

To his surprise, her answer to his confession was not that she didn’t feel the same, but that she shouldn’t. “Why?” he asked calmly, surprised he had managed to keep his emotions in check. “There’s nothing wrong about it. They can’t control how I feel—and like I said before, compassion is central to a Jedi’s life. Why can’t you just give us a chance, if you do feel something?”
