@roseypeached sent: " you call it a near-death experience, i call it a vibe check from god. "
eddie sighs. he smells like hospital. his stomach hurts from eating vending machine food for days. his head hurts. his heart hurts. his eyes hurt. he's pretty sure he's forgotten how to even blink at this point so he wants to note that the fact that he's even rolling his eyes as he helps buck into the house is impressive. " it wasn't just near-death, buck. " maybe his tone is a little too sharp as he helps buck get to the couch, gently setting him down. it was meant to be a gentle reminder though. he got struck by lightening then was just hanging there and eddie wasn't able to pull the man he loves back up into his arms. then he had to drive him here. he doesn't know how to just pretend that didn't happen but he doesn't blame buck for being able to joke about it.
eddie spent a good portion of buck's coma even wondering if this was real. if he actually got him safely to the hospital and this is not just some sick joke even though now they're home he's still concerned. tired eyes find the lightening marks that decorate buck's skin now. he wants to touch them, trace them with his fingers until they've disappeared and there's no trace left of all this. he wants to be able to protect him. he's too scared to let go of buck's hand though. he's pretty sure he's too scared to touch the marks too.
" there has to be something bigger than vibe check. " he teases with a lighter tone this time then squeezes buck's hand. a reminder to himself that buck is still there and a reminder to buck that he's not going anywhere. the house is so quiet and that reminds him --- " shannon's gonna keep the kids for a few days but if you want to see them they're just across the street and you just gotta ask, okay ? " another pause, shifting on the coffee table that eddie's sat himself on. " do you want to talk about it ? "
