▌real name: tiago magalhaes  ▌/real/ name: tiago maurício pinheiro do magalhães  ▌single or taken: single (verse dependant) ▌abilities or powers: nothing supernatural. technically, he can brawl but he’d rather not whatsoever.  ▌eye colour: dark brown ▌hair colour: dark brown ▌family members: he’s estranged from his family, but it consists of one younger sister, two younger brothers, three older brothers, his parents, a handful of cousins, aunts/uncles, and his maternal grandparents. they’re all in brazil. ▌pets: a one eyed cat he adopted and named valentin. ▌something they don’t like: elitism, particularly in the food industry, and the feeling of wet food u get in ur hands when washing dishes in the sink. ▌hobbies/activities: cooking (trying new recipes + experimenting with random ingredients), baking, painting, surfing, swimming, photography (amateurish stuff mainly; taking pictures of sights and things that catch his attention), foraging, hiking, among other outdoorsy activities. ▌ever hurt anyone before: yes. ▌ever killed anyone before: no. ▌animal that represents them: hoary fox ▌worst habits: despite his best efforts, tiago is predisposed to experiencing shame, which is the root cause of other problems, like underestimating his presence in people’s lives, and his inability to bask in his accomplishments (impostor syndrome being in full swing too, natually).  ▌role models: paulo martins, helena rizzo, eudes assis, cristina martinez  ▌sexual orientation: bisexual. ▌thoughts on marriage/kids: he’s open to marriage, more reluctant towards kids, but it could happen with the right person.  ▌fears: relapse, guns, seeing someone from his past and be recognized.  ▌style preferences: tiago keeps his clothing simple and utilitarian, and it comes across as unintentionally grungy. faded t-shirts, ripped jeans, jackets at night when it’s especially chilly. he works on a budget and wears clothes until they stop fitting. he only dresses up if he must. colors vary greatly -- he does enjoy bright tops. sports wear and soccer jerseys, and sneakers. ▌someone they love: candela, a close friend of his, and his cat.  ▌approach to friendships: tiago as a friend is incredibly loyal and forgiving -- almost to a fault. though he won’t be texting you 24/7, he will check up on you and make a point to spend time with you. he’s the type of friend you can go surf with or watch movies with, without expectations of any kind, but also the type of friend you can have profound conversations with and even just vent to -- as it stands, he is quite compassionate and will never judge you for the things you do or say. ▌thoughts on pie: he prefers savory pies. empadao de frango is /chef kiss. (yes, he enjoys the meme) ▌favourite drink: cocoa. ▌favourite place to spend time at: kitchens (especially his own), nature (he grew up surrounded by rainforest) ▌swim in the lake or in the ocean: ocean. ▌their type: tiago is drawn to people with strong, or at least vibrant in some form, personalities, whether it’s in the form of interpersonal warmth, carefree temperament, or assertive confidence. he likes people that share his passions or at least have passions of their own. and most importantly, he likes people that are open and tolerant -- basically, people he could see himself opening up to eventually.  ▌camping or indoors: camping.

TW: SUBSTANCE ABUSE & ADDICTION (OPIOIDS)

Tiago quit heroin (and pain killers) for the first time when he was 21, following a scare. He stayed sober for a week before using again. He quit the second time when he was 25, and this lasted for a while longer -- three months -- before an eventual relapse and overdose that nearly killed him via respiratory failure and had him in the hospital for four days. He was 26 years and one month old when the OD happened -- making it right around New Year’s. It was after this last experience that he decided to quit for a third and definitive time. Having understood from previous attempts that he wasn’t going to be able to quit on his own, he willingly put himself into a rehab centre and went through detox. It was a grueling process, but simultaneously he joined NA, which made things considerably more bearable.

Officially, Tiago got clean in January 5 of 2014. That’s the date when he celebrates his anniversaries. As of right now (8/16/2019), that’s 2050 days, which is 5 years, 7 months and 12 days. He prefers to count just by years (even if he personally keeps track of the months), so when asked he’ll usually just say five years. He’s got a total grand of 12 NA medallions.

the characters + father’s day (02)

the second group of father’s day would be the one with those who don’t have a positive relationship with their fathers, and boy is that a list. that would be: margo, logan, michael, jackson, dio. naturally, here’s your warning for talks of abuse, neglect and mentions of substance abuse.

margo hates her father, who subjected his whole family to lot of emotional abuse and generally treated them like objects or tools, to either use or show off and never actually connect with. she prefers to never think about him and if she does think about him (like on father’s day where it’s almost impossible to ignore his existence) she spends it with her brother damien and dio doing things like getting high and/or drinking and watching random movies, or maybe even going out to clubs and bars.

even before logan ran away from home he had a negative relationship with his father, who more or less saw him as a waste of space. logan was always a problematic kid, and acted out a lot to get attention from both his parents who instead of seeing the signs for what they were just took their losses and poured their whole attention onto their newest child and logan’s younger brother patrick. much like with mother’s day, logan doesn’t keep track of time very well and it always hits him suddenly when it’s father’s day (usually because he sees people talking about it and with their fathers, and ads about the date), and it’s been a whole other year he’s not seen his parents or his brother. he responds by acting uncharacteristically reserved and thoughtful.

michael’s relationship with his father is odd in that his father does actually think positively of him, but michael hates him and resents him anyway. much like margo’s case, mike’s father is involved in crime, but unlike margo, michael is involved with him still and working alongside him as his subordinate. michael is lorcan gallagher’s favorite son (by lorcan’s own admission), but michael is still emotionally and physically mistrated by him, even to this day. father’s day is spent drinking and watching ESPN with him and his brothers at his parents’ home, where he’s forced to deal with their drunken ramblings and insults. he’s never looking forward to this.

jackson (and by extension the other becketts) hates julian derane and they never speak of him. rather than celebrating him in father’s day, they celebrate henry beckett instead, their uncle and the man that raised him when their mother lynn passed away. jackson’s hatred in particular is vicious, given his resentful nature and the fact he got to witness the way julian treated his mother. on father’s day he enjoys fantasizing about hunting julian and putting him down for good.

dio’s father is a very prominent republican senator and a piece of shit, as you might expect from the first thing. as described above in margo’s section, dio spends father’s day with the acosta siblings and occasionally they talk shit about their useless fathers, but usually they’re not conscious enough that they’ll remember it afterwards.

there’s a special mention to those that are simply disconnected from their fathers and they have zero relationship, and can’t be described as either positive or negative: tiago, buddy, janus, flor. 

tiago disconnected from his family suddenly, and previous to that he had a good relationship with his parents, albeit made rocky by his troubled lifestyle. father’s day and mother’s day are reminders of the way he mistreated them, the way he disappointed them, and these days are difficult for him. 

buddy eventually cut contact with his parents because of his criminal lifestyle, and besides a few sparse phonecalls here and there he can’t afford to communicate with them. he doesn’t know if they know his son is a bank robber, and if they do he doesn’t know how they feel about it -- part of him prefers not to know. 

father’s day bears no meaning to janus, much like human holidays in general don’t. his father, if he can be called that, is a being of inexplicable nature and he’s never met him, so it’s safe to say there’s no relationship. he’s never been curious about meeting him either, preferring to keep to himself. 

flor doesn’t know anything about his father and his mother, maría carmen, hasn’t actually gone about telling her. she’s seen photographs, knows she was probably something like a miner and he liked to play instruments like the guitar and that’s about it. she doesn’t know if he’s alive but there’s a big chance he is not. father’s day is actually celebrated with emiliano (from @riverbodies), a friend of her mother and practically her godfather. flor considers him her paternal figure.

How does this character sleep? (Position, sleeping habits, bedtime routines)

He tosses and turns a lot trying to find that comfortable position until he falls asleep (it can be a bit annoying tbh, but he’s anxious), then he’s as dead as a rock. More often than not, he ends up in a curled up position, as if trying to make himself smaller/stay warm. He can very easily be changed into a different position though, and he’s a heavy sleeper.

Before falling asleep he brushes his teeth and washes his face. He has troubles nodding off, as I said, so sometimes he will listen to relaxing/soothing music until he’s sleepy enough. He has an app in his phone that simulates the sound of waves crashing, rivers, rain, and dozens of other sounds so he ends up in bed listening to an ambient sound for a while and tries to relax. He may also have some tea. Some nights are harder than others, but on good nights it takes about fifteen minutes.

What are their pyjamas like?

He sleeps in sweatpants. Sometimes a tank top as well. 

What do they dream about usually?

He dreams about the most random stuff possible. He hears a passing comment about a broken dishwasher, ends up dreaming about trying to fix one. Stuff like that. His nightmares too are very abstract. It’s really more about feeling anxious than scared.

How neat/tidy is this character?

He’s not dirty, but he could be neater. His kitchen’s spotless, but his room and living room... they could use some organization. He does take care of it once a week, though. 

How affectionate is this character?

Very much so! Vocally, physically, he’s very loving and warm. If allowed, he’ll be all over you.
