okay but what about the impala as a metaphor for family. In 2x01 where Bobby sees it as unsalvageable,  but Sam knows better that if there’s even one part working, Dean would want to keep it and fix it. The car as the only constant in Dean’s life the same way Sam and John were the only people he’d ever really known, and he’ll damn well keep on trying to fix the broken parts.
