October Movie Journal — Day 11, Part 1
Sole Survivor (1983)
Overall thoughts: Absolutely bizarre script + bizarre acting. The actual premise isn’t bad, because it’s basically Carnival of Souls, but the pieces never really come together. It kind of feels like something Stephen King would write. I actually loved the ending, except that they tacked on an unnecessary scene in the morgue at the end which I thought undermined the whole thing. Very silly goofy! The best part was the main character’s beautiful house and beautiful wardrobe (I’d kill for her sweater collection)
Did I enjoy it: Yes! But I will probably not rewatch
Would I recommend it: Yes, if you’re looking for something low key and silly
Reminds me of: It’s kind of like Carnival of Souls meets Final Destination meets An American Werewolf in London
Where I watched: Movie theater
