Cait doesn't seem to like most kids (helping them usually nets a "dislike" from her) but afaik there's nothing in direct relation to Shaun. That said, I think you're right - she would see that and be like, "the hell do you care about that brat for?" perhaps out of genuine confusion or as a self-defense mechanism. Either way I doubt Sole explaining it would do any good... she'd just have to keep being exposed to it, as hard as that might be for her.
Learning that she doesn’t seem to like kids based on her dislike patterns gives me the hint that she would probably not want to be much involved with Shaun (if the Survivor finds him and keeps Synth!Shaun in the first place). Maybe she works up to “I’ll watch him and make sure he’s still alive when you get back but we’re not making macaroni art together” but not in a spiteful way, in a “I don’t know what to do in this very personally uncomfortable situation” way.
I think you’re right - I don’t think a Survivor of this kind even could explain it to her, both with how amorphous the concepts are coming from the Survivor combined with how Cait would perceive them based on her own history.
It’d be difficult to tackle, but it’d be interesting to see Cait trying to cope with this situation, where she fumbles with it and where she shines with it, maybe how it could help her deal with her own trauma - but yeah all in all it must just be a weird, and I’m thinking, upsetting situation for her to be around.

Anyway what's up it's me your local Orc here to bust in on the replies on any post that has to do with Cait in 2018.
You say this as if I wasn’t specifically hoping you’d grace my post with that good good Cait info.
