he's a age behind/ahead everyone in his year.
so Tom's born in 1926 on new years eve, which makes 1937 his 11th year, so LOGICALLY he should've already been going to hogwarts @ this point, as he turns 11 before the 2nd half of the school year, but for some reason, Tom doesn't go till he's ALREADY 11, in 1938, which means he turns 12 in his FIRST year.
hes a YEAR BEHIND. no fucking wonder he excels in his year, other than his blatant intelligence, he's genuinely a year ahead in mental growth compared to the rest of his year, he's 12-13 when everyone else is 10-11
so Tom turns 16 in his 5th year, so YES Tom was already 16 by the time of the chamber of secrets incident, and 16 in that summer when he kills his dad and grandparents.
he's a year ahead of his year and a year behind where he SHOULD be. no wonder he's top of his year, its not the year he's supposed to be in.
