"So like a dog, then?"
Iâm so excited for Big Barry Syx this season. It feels like Murph pulled out a naddpod character for this - a genuinely deep, emotional backstory, with insane humor to back it up. Honestly, top Murph character immediately.
Btw I donât ship Izzy/Ivan/Fang in the âtheyâre in love with each other wayâ at all lmao. In fact I donât think they even like Izzy as a person, this relationship purely hinges on the fact that they have been around him long enough that his general asshole-ness simply doesnât phase them anymore and theyâve figured out by now that heâll be a little less of a dick if you just force him to relax once in a while.
One of the really weird things about this site is when young people talk about love and itâs like, âok, thatâs not wrong, but also wow thatâs missing so much nuance.â
Useful advice for people in their early 20âs for instance and useful advice for people who are...older than that, can be quite different.
The one main thing I wish Iâd known at 20 is: chances are your first relationship isnât going to be a life long relationship, and the advice Dear Abbey gives to married couples (see a counselor, relationships take work, talk it out) is not advice for you, a young person whoâs 2 months in to her first relationship ever. Advice for you is: you look for reasons to leave, or to see this as âfor now while itâs still funâ only, not reasons to stay.
You expect to have a few relationships that had some good aspects but werenât long haul relationships. Youâre learning what you can expect in a relationship and whatâs normal and what you like and donât like. Itâs good to spend some time figuring that out. Learning. Itâs good to not commit to spending your life with the first person who ever expressed interest in you.
People romanticize high school sweethearts and so on. Thatâs bullshit. I mean, sometimes it works, you shouldnât end a functional relationship just because of some abstract idea that dating experience with different people is good. But: if your life course involves dating many different people and having several short lived relationships before settling into a LTR, thatâs good. That teaches you so much about yourself and about relationships in general.
Thereâs a time and place to âwork on the relationshipâ but thatâs not in the early stages of a new relationship. The first part of a new relationship is all about looking for compatibility and whether the other person treats you well, signs itâs not going to work. Or, if you have no idea what to look for, itâs about paying attention to whatâs going on so that next time you will.
Just in general I donât really want to talk abt the specifics of transness with cis ppl, and particularly like cis doctors, but whew the thing that feels the most unimaginable to explain is how I donât particularly like my dick and I would rather it be gone but, while itâs here, Iâm also self-conscious about it not being big enough lmaoooooo
Girl help.
