Title? Doctor Who (Series 12) Where? HBOMax Length? 10 episodes and 1 holiday special Thoughts? Sacha Dhawan as The Master is an absolute gift, even if I don't entirely understand or like the reveal he instigated about The Doctor's history! I liked this series better than the first of Thirteen's, but I still really miss the camp and fun of the RTD era, early days of the reboot.
Title? Ghosts (BBC) (Seasons 1 and 2) Where? HBOMax Length? 12 episodes and 1 holiday special Thoughts? This show is charming, silly, and witty. Occasionally slapstick but still very smart. It's a heartfelt program that just feels good to watch.
Title? Doctor Who (Series 11) Where? HBOMax Length? 10 episodes and 1 holiday special Thoughts? First of all, I love Thirteen, she is precious and lovely. To be honest, she is a huge breath of fresh air after Twelve's attitude. I like the companions, but I think the show struggled to develop them as individuals with having to juggle so many. This series was also way more on-the-nose than I would prefer with entire episodes devoted to avatars for Trump and Amazon and direct interference in historical events like Rosa Parks and the Partition. Frankly I don't think they handled any of that with particular sophistication or insight.
