Title? Wednesday: Season 1 (2023) Where? Netflix Length? 8 episodes Thoughts? It's fine. It was enjoyable to put on in the background. I'm a weird millennial in that I have no Addams family feelings or allegiance, so it's not that I care about the property--it was just a pretty standard sexy teen murder highschool show.
Title? Black Swan (2010) Where? Hulu Length? 1 hr 48 min Thoughts? I liked the beginning of it but I didn't find the transition to more explicit horror at the end to be smooth enough. It came across slightly slapstick to me--the conflict between Lily and Nina felt like a catfight at times. It lost the psychological drama and became inane.
Title? La La Land (2016) Where? Hulu Length? 2 hr 8 min Thoughts? Pretty insufferable, but it's obvious why it was an industry darling. Emma Stone can't sing. Trying to re-create the 30s and 40s feel with less talented actors and without making any commentary on the form was SO BORING.
Title? Ali Wong: Baby Cobra (2016) Where? Netflix Length? 1 hr Thoughts? A little raunchier than I prefer ideally, but in general I like her delivery and her attitude.
Title? Labyrinth (1986) Where? Netflix Length? 1 hr 41 min Thoughts? I don't think I had ever watched this movie all the way through, but after putting it on there were definitely parts that were familiar. The pacing was a little slow. I don't think this would have been a favorite of mine when I was younger even though I ate up a lot of those late 80s fantasy flicks.
Title? Kim's Convenience (Season 3) Where? Netflix Length? 13 episodes Thoughts? I'll finish watching through the show but it's not a sitcom that I'll return to. Not enough laughs, not enough stakes.
Title? Crimson Peak (2015) Where? Netflix Length? 1 hr 58 min Thoughts? Stunning visuals, as per usual from GDT--costumes, sets, cinematography, all of it. I was NOT expecting the incest... I feel like this movie could only have come out after Game of Thrones. I thought the brother and sister were a vampire couple or something posing as siblings. I didn't find the movie scary, but it was creepy. It was a good Halloween-time watch!
Title? Kim's Convenience (Season 2) Where? Netflix Length? 13 episodes Thoughts? I love Pastor Nina.
Title? Wanda Sykes: Not Normal (2019) Where? Netflix Length? 1 hr 5 min Thoughts? The first half (political material) isn't particularly incisive. The joke is always ISN'T THIS CRAZY?? CAN U BELIEVE?? I like the material about her family and personal life better.
Title? Elementary (Season 7) Where? Hulu Length? 13 episodes Thoughts? They really went for broke with the canon references at the end here. Sad we didn't get one last Moriarty cameo. The Reichenbach/hiatus plot didn't have quite the same emotional import without her. Watsons and their Holmeses being together 4ever is so important to me. I'm glad I finally got around to finishing this series. It's got really great things to commend it in terms of Sherlock Holmes adaptations.
Title? Elementary (Season 6) Where? Hulu Length? 21 episodes Thoughts? I'm impressed with how serial this season was, it really kept me hooked. I flew through it. Joan and Sherlock are so married. I am ever weary of the way every female character I love eventually winds up with baby/motherhood drama.
Title? Elementary (Season 5) Where? Hulu Length? 24 episodes Thoughts? House, M.D. taught me to see that twist at the end of the season coming. Justice for Shinwell.
Title? Kim's Convenience (Season 1) Where? Netflix Length? 13 episodes Thoughts? Very wholesome, very enjoyable. Not chock full of laughs for me personally, but I like the characters and the vibe.
Title? Elementary (Season 4) Where? Hulu Length? 24 episodes Thoughts? The absolute gall they have to mention Ms. Hudson as frequently as they do but make us watch endless episodes of crusty Holmes men. Anyway, watching this many episodes of something is too much television, I hope tv never goes back to doing this for most shows.
Title? Elementary (Season 3) Where? Hulu Length? 24 episodes Thoughts? This season is technically a re-watch, because I stopped watching I think after S4, but I remember shockingly little of it. Like, virtually nothing after midseason. I still mostly can't with police procedurals at this point, but man do I love these characters and this Holmes adaptation.
Title? Jennifer's Body (2009) Where? Hulu Length? 1 hr 42 min Thoughts? This movie was ridiculous but also iconic. What a time capsule from the late 00's. Amanda Seyfried and Megan Fox are both great.
