regarding that last reblog - i’ve learned so much over the past few years about how much the people with whom you choose to surround yourself affect your mental state no matter how well you think you’re doing or how careful you are. and social media counts big time for this. i’ve learned that the unfollow button is the gateway to better mental health - if someone consistently posts things that cause you stress, unfollow them. a real friend will understand (and if you’re able to talk about it, likely stop posting those things out of concern for you), and if they give you a hard time, they’re not the kind of person conducive to good mental health.
if you struggle with feeling “selfish” for putting your mental health first, consider that you can only put water into an empty cup - by taking care of your own needs, you leave yourself in a state to then better care for your loved ones
