I think it's not just aromantic people, but it really really is so that romance is overused in media.

One of the very things why it is this way is because it sells well, it is usually added for plot. but sometimes it's the MAIN thing, like Hollywood can you just stop. And everyone knows already that the relationships are soooo unrealistic, like ofc not my crush whould literally save me from a dragon while million's of civilians are hurt (in that universe(wait no, because everything is somehow made by children, people that don't get paid enough, or the job is too risky, or just all of em'!(Also there's still genocide in other countries and I'm talking about a fictional population dying, but on another note. It feels like they only use war or genocide when the mainprot is white, isn't a group alot of people hate, Christian or like non religious or smt, a made up race that doesn't exist & most of the time a man))), well anyway, nobody is probably going to make the perfect food for you, make the weather move for you, make you perfectly happy and fully content 24/7. Like they'll try their best but nobody can do those things for you.

And it's kinda unrealistic that almost all of your problems except one are fixed when you get together with someone. And even if your partner fixes all of your problems, it shouldn't be that way, you should fix your problems ALONE, I'm just saying if they leave your old problems will just come back and you will also be heart broken.

And like there aren't that many people that are like super duper attractive, there just such a little chance to get somebody that looks like the rock or Zelena Gomes.

I'm just saying it's overused, cheesy and only used for money.

It is a little incorrect how fops and foppish men are often viewed as inherently gay/bisexual in a historical context. I remember once, a Tumblr user, presumably quite unknowingly, included them in a brief history of how gay men have been viewed historically. I'm glad that a lot of LGBT+ who enjoy this period of European history have kind of claimed the subculture for their own BUT....fops were never seen as gay or associated with gayness, especially in the 17th century and 18th century when gay was something you did, rather than something you were. The closest modern equivalent of a fop and how fops were viewed by others is a "metrosexual" (I know this is Not a Real Thing but it tends to be slang used to refer to a straight man who dresses quite flamboyantly and fashionably, has meticulous hygiene and is otherwise quite stereotypically feminine in his behaviour). They were seen as effeminate but effeminancy had yet to take on the derogatory link to gayness at this time. Being effeminate meant you were entirely at the whims of women, your head was filled with women and women's things/activities. Considering being a fop was associated with extravagant spending and following the latest fashions to the letter, it's easy to see why people made a link between men like this and the stereotypical view of what women are supposed to be like. Also, fops tended to follow French (and continental) fashions, which 1) made them unpatriotic, which was deeply Not Masculine in this period, 2) associated them with the French who were viewed by the English, at least, as full of frippery, Catholicism and absolutism. Fops generally had "loose morals" when it came to women and alcohol and other vices too.

Yes, foppishness did get associated with androgyny, but so did popular women's fashions and puritanical moralists felt that the perceived ridiculousness of fashion reflected a change in values, a materialist attitude and too much focus on conspicuous consumption, rather than tradition, which deeply unsettled the austere. Perhaps this is why we, in the modern day, often can't divorce the fop from present day sexuality, because he goes against the grain of traditional ideas of gender and sex so much. And not all fops were straight. Lord Hervey, foppish to the point of inventing a new gender (people at the time said that 'In England, there are men, women and Lord Herveys), was bisexual and often played with his foppish and androgynous fashions to make a subtle statement about this. But in general, fops were perceived as heterosexual men who cared too much about women. They were emasculated by their links with women.
