Honestly I don't get why promoting Sam over Assad (or Jacob or Delainey) is a better promotional tactic. The show supposedly deviated already from the (almost) all white characters from the books. The first two seasons focused on the characters or colour. People that are invested are because of Louis (or Armand and Claudia). Shouldn't you tell these fans that their beloved characters will still be there even though s3 is gonna focus on Lestat? Shouldn't you reward and praise the actors that made the show so interesting and of high quality? Instead of, you know, just catering those racist fans that only care about the white blond character? And it's not about Lestat being your favourite that could make you racist, it's the so so obvious favouritism, it's pretending that the past seasons didn't exist.
