the worst part is that this in global. We know it happens in every country, it's just the socio-cultural emphasis is on a different sport. For New Zealand it's Rugby, for America it's football. Some places have spikes of 20% on game days.

People like to argue it's not the sport, it's the fact that alcohol consumption goes up during viewing. But they all just like to ignore the real issue: male violence and entitlement.

Something I've seen a lot lately that absolutely pisses me off and it's so small and stupid but also so gendie and so missing the point is people making one or both of the protagonists from the movie Leviticus trans in fanfic/fanart (almost always TIFs but I'll get to when they make one of them a TIM)

(the vaguest spoilers I can manage) Leviticus is literally a movie about how religious homophobia can and will kill you. And they want me to believe that transitioning "completely" (in the top surgery scars on a regular man way) can coexist with that thought? I wouldn't be reading the fics anyway, but it just pisses me off to see.

And then sometimes they'll make one of the characters a TIM which I can't decide if that pisses me off worse or not, bc on one hand sure, it's not a betrayal of the source material, but in their minds it makes a gay relationship straight.

This is why acceptance rates for trans people are going down and detransition rates are going up btw.
