David wasn’t normally the type to cry, or get sad, even. But at the moment he was in the forest, balling his eyes out. And when David cried, good lord, did he cry. He sat with his back against one of the large pine trees that surrounded the camp and pulled his knees to his chest. He prayed that none of the campers stumbled across him. Gosh, what would they think seeing their counselor crying like a child in the forest?

David smiled widely as the new camper stepped off the Quartermaster's bus. “Howdy! You must be Lindsay! I can’t tell you how excited I am to have another art camper here!” He stuck his hand out for her to shake. “I’m David, one of the two fun-loving counselors you’ll find at Camp Campbell!”

She had strayed away a bit from Max and Neil, and David found this a perfect time to get a good old fashioned conversation in. “So, now that the first day excitement is out of your system, how are you liking Camp Campbell?” David waited for her answer with anticipation.
