It takes a while for Dave to pick up the phone, much less dial any numbers. The sudden coldness of his room is suffocating, and for a moment he contemplates making a bonfire in the middle of his room. There's surely enough homework for him to burn. But then, that's also the beer talking, and he's a rash, blunt person but he isn't stupid, either, and it takes much more for him to abandon everything in the haze of alcohol.
But he's not exactly the smartest person in the world, either, which is how he ends up dialing Hummel's number. He has it saved under Special K, brushing it off to his friends as a dealer or a booty call. Yet still, yet still, he spends most nights considering calling, just to -- to something. It would be enough to just hear his voice.
That's the beer talking too.
Yet still, yet still. He dials the number because he's not a genius, and he's a masochist, and the little thing living inside of him wants to hear Hummel's voice one more stupid time.
