I don't talk about humanformers in tfes cuz I have about zero(0) thoughts on them and don't see it as 'interesting' enough to explore considering how many themes are looped on them being alien/not human BUT I do have very detailed headcanons about hf Bee's hair for some reason
Bonus:
BEFORE ANYONE STARTS THINKING THIS.. Connie did not take the shape of Twisted Shelly... Connie's not that mean..
All she did was possess the room to temporarily cut the power off, then stare at him while making her eyes look red.. somehow. Boxten just kinda filled it in with Shelly.
Okay but now I'm thinking about it. I'm impatient rn tho so I'm not plotting out the how and when of it all, but Simon, Grace, and Rocky discovering the Tulpar before its too late.
Mandatory reporter Grace taking one look at Anya and Knowing immediately that something is very wrong and that woman needs HELP. Rocky, who can easily see the inside of a human body mentioning off handedly that Anya has a smaller human inside of her and becoming curious about the human gestational process with absolutely no awareness for how tense and quiet the room becomes.
Jimmy becoming twitchy as all fuck because of that and Simon keeping his eyes locked on him like a hawk because of everyone in the room, Jimmy's setting off all of Simon's Danger sensors even without having said a word.
Swansea being the one to bite the bullet and just SAY what fucking happened, which is what sets everything in motion. There's about a two second delay between Swansea speaking and Jimmy acting.
Jimmy makes to grab Anya and hold her hostage, but Simon has been watching him and does not hesitate to attack him before he can make it two steps her way. Simon who is at this point mutated to shit and back and much MUCH stronger than Jimmy who has been slowly starving to death. It still devolves into an all out vicious fight like a pair of cats going at it because Jimmy fights dirty and Simon kinda loses it when he sees blood. Grace would want to pull them apart but literally Every Single Person in the room (except Daisuke who's having a breakdown right along with him) will not let him interrupt.
Simon doesn't quite kill Jimmy but its a narrow thing. He is incapacitated however and safe to transport. If they transport him. Rocky suggests leaving the bad human on the bad ship. It doesn't sit well with Grace or Daisuke though. (They do it anyway, putting him in the one functioning cryopod. Grace feels like he's killed a man and is inconsolable for days after but eventually after talking with Anya more, getting to know their whole story, he stops feeling as bad. It guilt is still there but its helped by the knowledge that Jimmy would have tried hurt them if they'd brought him.)
Also Anya, while grateful, is now TERRIFIED of Simon. I think she'd also have some mixed feelings around Grace too for how much he looks like Curly from before the accident.
I imagine they'd also rake the Tulpar for parts. They all got fired and the company went under, the ship is half destroyed anyway who cares if they take some things that make their survival more likely back to The Hail Mary. It wouldn't take long with three different mechanics working on it.
But that DOES leave Curly though.
Grace has no clue how he's still alive, and neither does anyone else aboard the Tulpar, even Anya who's the one who's been kept him alive. I think Simon specifically would feel drawn to him. He should also be dead due to injuries that were too severe to survive. I think seeing him, seeing his pain and the way his eye is all but begging for it to end, Simon would kill him. Maybe he'd even be able to hear it in Curly's blood, how deeply he regrets the things he's done, how its too late to fix it himself. Maybe even a sense of relief that now there's someone else here who can help his crew. Simon the Butcher would be the only one to recognize the cruelty in Curly's fate and refuse to let it keep happening. (He might be projecting a little but he's also right, there's no fixing that kind of damage in space and allowing him to keep living is needless torture as well as a gross waste of supplies)
Simon thinks Grace will finally understand what he is and what he does. Grace is only grateful not to have had to make the call himself. Secretly they all are.
Rocky is taking so many notes about humans because now he finally has a pack of them to observe. Grace is still his favorite but Anya becomes a pretty close second almost immediately.
Okay but does Peri KNOW that Dev has a robotic leg when he shows up? Something about the fact that Peri's wand is a cane and the fact that Dev could have kept his leg and just had a cane for the rest of his life instead tickles my brain.
I mean he doesn't know immediately, he wasn't like briefed or anything, but he basically lives in Dev's house so he definitely finds out. Peri doesn't comment on or react to it all though really, there's no reason for him to think anything of it, plenty of people have missing limbs, a lot of people are born without them, it doesn't necessarily mean anything sinister happened. He had no reason to pry or ask and I think Peri's lack of reaction to it helped Dev feel a bit more comfortable in his skin. (Not by much but.. a little bit.)
this is such a #gradstudentproblem that will literally not affect any part of my life after graduation but i'm starting to wonder if i perhaps don't enjoy critiquing literature as much as i enjoy critiquing people's analyses of it
