the way aaron was/is only allowed to be a 'real boy' (man) with robert speaks volumes in my book. you can be a survivor of a difficult past and have mental health problems (as aaron does) without being a helpless child-adult hybrid, and when aaron was with robert it really showed that. he helped him be independent while still offering support when he needed it.
