Prepping a few unprofessional and vulgar crashouts discussions of queerness in spn. The theme: everything I absolutely fucking HATE about Destiel. The ship, the shippers, the fic, all of it. Do I ship destiel? Yes. Yes I Do. I will continue to. But there are things, past and present, with the canon, actors, fans and fankworks involved that make me genuinely sick, and I think that in the current political climate they need to be aired. (and no, its not just going to be entirely at The Crazy Shippers or whatever. That's there, but its not all of it).
short preview of themes:
-Fuck Misha Collins Actually, I'm not dropping any new information or making non-destiel-related accusations. but the way he's treated this ship on mic for everyone is really horrible and everyone acts like it isn't happening.
-I hope everyone who is using "provable queerbait" as Canon Lite enjoys the taste of that boot they're licking
-Purity culture in fan wars CAN, WILL, AND ACTIVELY IS moving fans' politics rightward and destiel is rife with it
-If you're aiming to harm other fans, even emotionally, over ships, you should not be trusted in activist spaces online or off, full stop, I don't care, no exceptions (and on a related note, why I no longer think Destiel should go canon ever despite still shipping it)
- "Canon vs fanon" ≠ "fiction vs reality" ≠ "political/irl relevance of media ≠ "the concept of subtext and themes"
-In Which I Blame Destiel Shippers For Dean & Cas Staying Dead And Separate Forever
-Fuck the "heaven happy ending Destiel". The wedding event was phenomenal but the context? Abhorrent.
-Its been like 13 years and I still have major beef with Twist & Shout.
Be warned I am not pulling a singular punch. This has been brewing for a BIT.
EDIT: This is NOT a safe space for people trying to bash one actor to justify why another is better, or bash one ship to justify why another is better, or try to use these post in that context. This is about representation, shifts in fandom behavior and perceptions, etc. Note how none of these involve ship/stan wars. If you want to show up and get mad on-topic with me, you're welcome. But anyone bringing a WHIFF of fanwars in here is unwelcome, I hope you run your car over a curb, your milk goes sour, you find out you have cavities, leave your favorite jewelry in the washing mashine and step on a nest of fire ants. Fuck all the way off, literally half the rants listed on this post are ABOUT you people. Take your shit somewhere I can't smell it.

TIL A group of TX prison inmates broke out of a holding cell to save a guard who had passed out with no pulse. The inmates got help to revive the guard; then they were locked back in the cell with a thank you.
Don't send death threats to your own team's player not because "it's only football," but because it's an evil, pointless thing to do and there are consequences on the real person at the other end of the Tweet who already feels worse about it than you could ever.
The "it's only football (so don't let it get to you so much)" dismissal is a well-intentioned de-escalation tactic in situations like Karius, but it can't coexist with the idea that joy and unity and beautiful, transcendent human moments are also inspired by football. I don't see how you can have it both ways.
It's not wrong or pathetic to be shattered and driven to rage by football. It's how some people act on those negative feelings that should be condemned, not being emotionally consumed by this game.
