How I’d interpret a redeemed Henry creel in a romantic relationship.

— these are personal interpretations of mine that I tried to make as close to canon as possible..

~ Henry would want someone understanding, emotionally intelligent, and who doesn’t view him as a monster for how he feels deep down. He would desperately need someone who embraces the dark parts of him the way they do the good parts of him.
~ Now, REALISTICALLY, the party, and many others would not exactly approve of your relationship with Henry, mostly due to the fact that Henry still ultimately committed horrible acts (that weren’t influenced by the shadow). I feel like the only people who’d accept the love you two share are Eleven and Kali (Will as well, but he never admits that).
~ But you (Nor Henry) don’t really care about anyone else’s approval. You both stay out of each others business (Henry doesn’t want to mingle around with them anyway)
~ Henry isn’t employed; his reasoning behind this being that he “Doesn’t want to submit to the patriarchy,” (His words exactly). He also doesn’t interact well with people in general.
~ Henry would honestly still struggle with lingering homicidal urges but ONLY if someone were to hurt you. He’d want to kill them instantly or fight them for you.
~ He’d go on his infamous little speeches still regarding how much he ‘hates humanity’ and how corrupt our society and government are. He’s a bit of an anarchist (Even without the mind flayer’s influence, those worldviews would solely remain his own ideology as they’re the result of his trauma and also serve as a coping mechanism.)
~ Suffers from separation anxiety and severe jealousy issues, and after what happened with Patty, I imagine he’d be the type of partner who is overwhelmingly overprotective of you along with being super possessive.
~ He cries often, but because of his huge ego, he does it behind your back as he doesn’t want to come off as “weak.” But you usually catch him doing this. He’s scared to be vulnerable in front of you, but after convincing him that it’s okay, he comes out of his shell and always goes to you when he needs to cry.
~ Most touch-starved person to ever exist. His hands are on you anywhere you go. Whenever you go out in public, his hand rests on the small of your back or his hand is engulfed in yours. Whenever you’re cooking, he comes up from behind just to wrap his arms around you and buries his face into the crook of your neck. He also tends to trap you when you two are cuddling (Bonus points if you’re smaller than him).
~ Talks your poor ear off about spiders. If you’re afraid of them, he doesn’t really catch onto the social cue unless you tell him directly. He’d tone it down a bit after realizing it made you uncomfortable.
~ His main love language is quality time. He isn’t the type to enjoy going out a lot, so you two find peace and something to do together within the comfort of your household. Henry gets overstimulated when going out, especially in the heat, so if you do get the chance to actually go out in public with him, it’s usually during the evening
~ Prefers hanging out with you one on one rather than with other people. Time with you feels sacred so he wants you all to himself.
~ He suffers from recurring nightmares. All of them consisting of his life in the laboratory, the mind flayer, or you leaving him. (Basically, all his biggest fears combined. He dreams what he fears.)
~ Henry suffers from Depression, Social anxiety, PTSD and BPD (Borderline personality disorder) but is now medicated. (He used to not be and struggled taking medication. He was actually hospitalized for years before you two officially got together)
~ Henry likes to draw and paint. If you two shared that hobby then the both of you would spend hours doing that together.
~ Still has his powers even after the mind flayer’s hold on him is entirely lifted. (Because I like the idea that his powers are his own.)
~ I headcanon that he has sensory issues, so he probably doesn’t like it when you play with his hair after he styles it. But if it were messy prior on a lazy day, then he wouldn’t mind as much. (He’d definitely fix it afterwards, though.)
~ Freezes you out in your own home. He isn’t used to the heat, so he always cranks down the AC to way below 70 degrees.
~ Surprisingly very romantic despite being inexperienced. This man at least knows how to treat someone right.
~ Uses very traditional nicknames for you such as: “Sweetheart”, “My Love” and “Darling”
~ He’s a tease but if you were to tease him back he’d be a blushing mess for an hour straight.
~ If you’re a woman, he doesn’t trust you around other men (He’s not worried you’ll cheat, but he doesn’t trust them— that’s the thing) and if you’re a man, it’s the same thing (He becomes absolutely enraged over the thought of girls hitting on you).
~ Overall, worships you and lets you do whatever you want with him. I mean, you LET him be with you already, so he’s like: “They can do whatever the hell they want.”
