"do you want a drink?" chloe asks as she makes her way to the fridge. "i mean, i've got all the sodas. the healthy ones, the not-so-healthy ones. there's kombucha." she turns back, and gestures to the alcohol. "or if you want something a little stronger, i've got that too."
@mischiefxmuses sent: sender notices a trail of flowers or mushrooms leading to the woods, and tries to convince receiver to come along and investigate - Silco x Chloe
chloe's gaze followed the flowers until their path was consumed by the darkness of the woods. they appeared to be normal flowers, albeit with purposeful placement. the purpose, she guessed, being nefarious in nature. it was rare for a trail leading into the desolate woods to be intended for anything else. it was clearly a ruse, so she didn't understand why silco wanted to go in. turning to him, she lifted a questioning brow, "have a sudden desire to act as prey?"

chloe locked then slid her phone into her pocket. "trust me, there is absolutely nothing to bother," she assured him. "and even if there was, you could never bother me." the neutral expression she had while staring at her phone softened when her gaze finally lifted to him. she couldn't have asked for anyone better to give her a reprieve from her thoughts. "tell me, to what do i owe the pleasure of your visit?" she asked with a playful lilt.

"how's jinx doing?" chloe asked silco. the resting hard line expression she often wore softened as she reached out, placing her hand on his forearm in comfort. "and you— how are you holding up?"

chloe protectively stepped in front of her companion at the sound of a gun being fired. her eyes surveyed the area, but couldn’t see any indication that there was anyone else other than the two of them. “did you hear where that came fr—” another shot rang through, narrowly missing her as it passed by her ear. strange, that would mean it was from an upward angle. the detective looked down and saw…a rat with a gun. “what the fuck?” she’d seen some things, even met god, but this had to take the cake. before chloe could act, the tiny animal skittered away and out of sight.

one brow raised in silent question if they were serious. "thanks, but greeting card platitudes aren't going to help with this one." but what could possibly help in a world with actual devil walks the earth? as well as other beings, such as the one before her. the detective wasn't sure if there was enough time or platitudes to remedy the uncertainty she feels. "i don't think even hallmark has the words for this kind of situation."
