"Today, it is time we took a look at #047 in the Pokédex, Parasect!"

"Parasect looks like a giant mushroom moving about, and essentially, that is truly what is happening! When evolving from Paras, the fungi growing on its back takes it over completely, becoming a sentient invader of Parasect's body."

"Though the mushroom is a parasite, it is not hostile, and actually rather enjoys being around other living organisms, especially other Parasect. The only real problem is Shiinotic, since the two fungi are rival species. Parasect also has no problems helping out humans in preparing herbal medicine, though one should take caution not to cut off the root of the mushroom, because it would render the Pokémon unable to function. Though it spores can be dangerous, they give off a nice, almost flowery smell."

"In the wild, Parasect prefers dark and humid places, since they are the perfect environment for the mushroom on its back to grow. Cave explorers have reported that on occasion, a mushroom grows so big, that Parasect is no longer capable of carrying its weight. Herbal farmers saw benefit in this, and now Parasect farms inside caves exist."

"At night, Parasect climbs into trees, draining them of their nutrients until the tree completely dries out. The more moist a tree contains, the more Parasect will be attracted to it. Parasect, in turn, is also food, as other Bug Pokémon are lured to it by its spores. A pupil of mine wrote a Pokédex entry about it:"

"As a child, I was told stories about how tiny fairies live inside the mushrooms on Parasect's back. I have since learned that these fairies are actually tiny, shroomless Paras that feed on the fungus, unaware that it is infecting them with their own growth while they nibble away."

The Mushroom Pokemon

Bug - Grass

3' 3" - Around the size of a 4-Year-Old.

65 lbs - Around the weight of a Bucket of Paint.

From the Kanto region.

Equally male and female species.

Evolves from Paras (0046)

Info:

Parasect itself is mostly dead and the mushroom on its back controls the main body, as well as feed off the nutrients of the body, and if the mushroom comes off of a Parasect, the Pokemon will stop moving.

Prefers damp places, but its the mushroom who chooses that, not Parasect itself.

The larger the mushroom on its back, the stronger a Parasect's spores will be, and these spores can be harvested to make herbal medicines, though in Alola the spores are not of very good quality.

When the bug is devoid of nutrients, the mushroom on its back leaves its spores on the eggs of the Parasect.

Parasect are known to infest trees in groups and drain the nutrients from the lower trunks and roots, and when the tree dies, they all move to another one, which sometimes leads to fights over territory with Shiinotic.
