01’ LINE EXPLAINED

because this is important!

a thing that everyone knows, is that 01’ liners are all friends. now not EVERY 01’ liner in kpop is apart of this big group of friends, but it’s close to it.

it started at jyp, there was somi, jeongin, ivy, ryujin, and chaeryeong. and they all bonded over being the ‘superiors’ because of their birth year. granted 00’ liners disagreed with this statement 99% of the time.

when ivy and somi left jyp the friend group still stayed in contact with each other, and it really wasn’t rare for them to all meet up when possible. soon enough they all debuted and shared their friendship pretty publicly.

but around late 2019, jyp seemed to shut down chaeryeong, ryujin, and jeongin when it came to speaking about it. this was because 1. somi and ivy are former jyp trainees that literally everyone knows about. and 2. he believed that as rookies, stray kids and itzy shouldn’t be associated with each other or other artists.

people became concerned when it turned to be just somi and ivy, so they all decided in order to calm people down they would ‘recruit’ other 01’ liners. now the first few times this happened, it was by complete accident.

ivy met txt through wooyoung and yeosang, and she came to find out that beomgyu was a fellow 01’ liner. not long after talking to him, he was added to the group chat.

then jeongin met chenle, and it lead to him being added. then it just became a thing after that. idol after idol would claim to be in the group chat. and the o.g. group was there to confirm it.

it’s come to the point where rookie idols tell their fans about wanting to be added to the group chat one day. fans started telling the ‘o.g.’s about idols they think were worthy of being in the group chat.

01’ line is so iconic because it goes against the ‘boys and girls can’t be friends’ stereotype. or the ‘idols & idols can’t be friends’ stereotype. this is the best way for fans to see their faves interact. and everyone loves it so much, that companies are okay with it now because it’s great publicity.

as for any other idols to be added, it’s a growing friend group, so much so that the group chat has been split so many times.

now there’s only one question left to answer about 01’ line. who’s the leader?
