I wanna talk about Ham4Ham and why I love it so much. Part of the reason of course is just that it gives us (I mean, the fandom) something new to squee over and possibly play with every few days. A closed (and pretty small) actual canon plus frequent new shots of variously canon-adjacent material is a nice combination.
But mostly… I love how much LOVE it involves. I love how it embraces all sorts of performances - mostly singing - and mostly from either the Hamilton cast or other Broadway performers - but also dance, spoken word poetry, juggling, etc. … the catholic taste is delightful because just like Hamilton (the musical) itself, it denies the idea of keeping all these things locked up in their separate boxes.
I love how much Lin-Manuel Miranda seems to love everything. Perhaps mostly cause Ilike staring at his face. (#I might have a problem.) But also cause enthusiasm is infectious. And because…
This is theater performance coming out ONTO THE STREETS. I won't say ~where it should be~ - and I don't think that, really, I do love many things that can't work there - but, actually, A place it should be, where it's all too frequently absent? YEAH. I think I do believe that. And there's something about that ethos that's moving and important to me.
