Cocky youth sits idly
in office blocks,
privilege on their backs,
smothered by education,
degrees and 'skills'.
So, you think you're deserving
because you were
gifted the opportunity
others could only dream of?
Meanwhile, the working poor,
the people of 40hrs or more
and still no roof or food on the table
stands to fight for B A S I C
rights. But what?
They should be at work.
They're not exactly earning
while they stand to fight.
What a fool. Fool?
I hope for your sake
you never have to work
back-break-ing shifts for
the 'luxury' of minimum wage,
relying on food banks
and benefits so you can eat.
So you can sleep
and wake up just to do it all again.
But sure, go ahead and bitch
how it won't be fair if minimum
wage raises to more than yours.
So blind that you can't see
how minimum wage raised,
indicates YOU also don't earn
enough for your trade.
But what is 10% of...nothing, anyway?
Enjoy your London nights out
getting blindingly drunk,
cinema trips, and
takeaway dinners on the fly.
It's hard being so hard-done-by.
Those selfish minimum-wage workers
so ungrateful for the cold nights
in the dark, can't afford to turn on lights.
Stuck in a vicious cycle
while your privilege makes
you think you're owed.
God help you should you
find yourselves in their shoes.
Though perhaps you need a
lesson learned.

Lord knows how easy it is to find yourself
working 12-hour shifts, 7 days a week
back-breaking work, can't eat, can't sleep.
Lift each other up
and we will ALL reap
what we're owed.
Let the 1% suffer and fall, so the 99% can grow.
