Louis Tomlinson hints that One Direction will get back together one day saying he would be 'gutted' if they didn't.
In an exclusive interview with Guilty Pleasures, the former 1D star opened up about finally seeing the light on his sophomore album, Faith in the Future, due for release on November 11.
‘I was excited to go into this second record and make exactly what I wanted to make, without worrying about other opinions and what I “should” be doing,’ he explained, adding he was ‘brave enough to go, “This is exactly who I am, take it or leave it.”’
Getting into his groove, the follow-up to Louis’s 2020 debut Walls sees him fully tap into genres, like dance music, he was previously hesitant to.
‘On my first album, I wanted to be authentic and credible, and all I could imagine is guitars being the prevalent instrument in the songs, whereas this time around, I stayed more open-minded.
‘Still, these songs aren’t written as a play to radio, but in the same way, I didn’t resist those sounds. We found a middle ground,’ he shared.
Rising to fame as one fifth of the world’s biggest boy band, the 30-year-old father of one added he would love to join forces with the boys again, following the group’s break in 2015.
‘It would be criminal for us not to. It’s easier to say this now, from the outside looking in, but it was such a big thing, such a massive part of all of our lives, I would be disappointed if we get to whatever age and we haven’t had that moment.
‘But it’s all speculative, there’s so many different things to consider within that. So, who knows, I’d be gutted if we didn’t,’ he admitted.
Does he keep in touch with Harry, Liam, Niall and Zayn? ‘Definitely, man,’ Louis replied, continuing: ‘Maybe a couple of the lads would agree with me on this, I’d actually say that, you keep an eye on everything everyone’s doing, more than we actually keep in contact.
‘I’ve probably spoken to Niall two or three times this year, I bumped into him at Glastonbury, which was lovely, but what’s great about the relationship we have, you know, we’ve all got mates like this, it doesn’t matter how long we go without speaking, but when we see each other, it’s so f***ing nice. So, if I’m not in contact with them, I’m watching from afar, proud.’
helenehorlyck Sometimes a song comes along that is a game changer for an artist- Bigger Than Me …Louis played it to me at his house a few month ago and I was buzzing for him. He told me he had recorded the vocals shortly after one of our two week vocal technique stints at his house. Friends: hard work pays off. I love Louis and I am so happy for him to show the world the HUGE amount of work he has done to rise above everything and blast home this massive tune! This song ain’t easy and can only be sung if you know what you’re doing! He’s owns it. The sky is the limit and I wish him nothing but huge success 🎤❤️
