"We do certain things. We're going to do them until we finish.
That's part of the culture, that you still have to do hard things."
- Paul Maurice
"If or when you run out of games and are mathematically eliminated, how do you still maintain your culture?"
"Well, we've spent hours now talking about how we would handle this. We came out of the trade deadline and we won our next three games. We went four and one on our next five, and we started losing more people.
Oh, Rodriguez is having surgery, by the way. Tomorrow, or the next day, on his finger, he's done.
We have a certain style of game. I just don't think we can play it. We can try to play it, and we are trying to play it, but if I was to articulate what our game looks like, and you watch our game tonight, you would say 'coach doesn't know what he's talking about!' That doesn't mean we're still not trying to do it.
We're at the point, where the most important thing is how we treat each other. You're not allowed to not show up for the things that you're supposed to show for. We do certain things. We're going to do them until we finish. That's part of the culture, that you still have to do hard things. And the reason is because the guy beside you is. So that's what we talk about. We're not screaming at the referees. We're not gonna be breaking sticks. Eh, it's gonna happen, but we're not allowing that to be what happens on the bench. We're not chirping each other- unless it's... reasonable.
We value ourselves at the end by our game- how we play, and now that's not there for us, because there's not a team in the league you take ten guys out and you're gonna look the same. So we have to find another place that we're the same. And that's what our focus is."
