Still over here, building a baby, eating all the things, and trying to find the silver linings each day, friends.
We’ve returned to the office 3 days a week, which is apparently the new norm for us. It’s been fine for the most part — aside from my incredible annoyance at people who can’t seem to wear a mask properly while on public transit.. or worse yet.. people who just don’t even bother with the mask at all, despite it being “mandatory”. I’m officially pregnant enough that people give up their seat for me on the subway, so that’s a bonus. 😁
It’s been great seeing people around the office that I haven’t seen in two (!) years. Kinda funny how many people look exactly the same.. I feel so different, like so much has changed. I guess for me, it has. When I was last in the office on March 16, 2020 I was still a childless adult. Imagine that. My company is arranging all sorts of social events, parties, free meals, gatherings.. I don’t know how to feel about it all. I wonder if I’m too concerned about COVID anymore. If I should just ease up.. let myself worry less.
My SPD has continued to be a constant downer.. I’m trying, really trying, not to be a miserable complainer all the time.. not sure it’s working. I will say: bless my husband for being so sweet with me. Whenever I lay on the couch with that look on my face, because I’m tired of being in pain and tired of being nauseous, he comes over and wordlessly sticks an ice pack between my thighs and hands me a couple of tums. He makes me a cup of tea. That’s the good stuff, folks. He’s a keeper.
I’ve been keeping up with my reading goal for the year. I started Shrill by Lindy West at the recommendation of my therapist.. it’s funny, good for a chuckle, it’s got some very salient points about what life is like for an overweight female in our society and culture. I have a hard time listening to it for too long, though, because it starts to feel very ranty. Best enjoyed in small bits.
I also started reading Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell.. a mystery about a woman whose daughter goes missing & a man who she meets years later who might be more involved in the disappearance of her daughter than she realizes at first. If you’re doing the audiobook and can get past the British accent and silly voices of the narrator, its worth listening to.
I’m also still trying to get through Chasing the Scream by Johann Hari — how I wish I could find an audiobook format of that one. It’s 666 pages and I’m only 1/5 of the way through. It’s so good, but I just can’t seem to find the time. If I make it through by the summer I’ll be happy. 😅
What are you all up to? How are you doing? I feel like our little tumblr world has been quiet lately. Sending positive energy to you all for this week ahead.

His face 😔
Sam’s cut reminds me of when he accidentally steered Cait into a prop in the water during season 3 😥
