Garden update: the 8 grape vines and 3 raspberry plants have been planted. I realize that I don’t typically garden because I’m too much of a mental perfectionist and I end up talking myself out of the whole thing before I even begin. Because of that, it felt good to commit to this.. just get my hands in the dirt and get the plants in the ground. If they grow, awesome. If they don’t work out, no big deal. B was super helpful in setting up the grape vine trellis — just have to tension it and we’ll be good to go. Now I just have to tackle all the weeding. SO much weeding.
Not much else to report here.. still being pooped on and peed on by the world’s cutest baby. I’ve been especially exhausted these last few days, which is weird, especially because I got 8.75 hours of sleep last night!! We’re slowly transitioning back to B and I sleeping in the same room, which we haven’t done for like, two solid months. It feels good. Some days it seems like we hardly see each other. We’re just moving past each other taking care of this tiny human. Progress, though. We’re making progress.
The weather here is amazing which is helping my mood a lot. I’m trying to be present and to practice gratitude more consciously. Tonight it rained, and we opened the windows to let the cool air in. I need to remind myself to be grateful for the small things like that — how nice it felt to have the cool breeze and hear the rain falling. Oh, and yesterday I ate what might be the most delicious sandwich of my life.. we have this incredible sandwich shop nearby and they call it The Ranchero. Chipotle chicken, avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion, bacon, cheddar, and some kind of amazing dressing. I ate the second half for breakfast this morning. 😁
I finished reading Alex Trebek’s autobiography, which was wonderful and sad and heartwarming and honest and delightfully simple. I loved it. Now I’m on to my next book: “Hidden Valley Road”, which is a non-fiction about a family of 12 children, 6 of whom are diagnosed schizophrenics. So far it’s very cerebral in a very good way.
For now, it’s 9:15pm, so I’m off to lay my head down. Got to be back up for baby duty in a few hours!
