Two days of beautiful riverside stroller walks, feat. a human jumping bean. I used the last two days of my maternity leave to discover and enjoy this walking path along the river, which ended up being my favorite place for stroller walks by FAR. Everyone I passed -- couples, moms with strollers or kiddos, folks walking pets, people walking on break from work -- said hello and waved. Big deal for New York, people! Bummer it took until the end of maternity leave for me to find it, but I'm glad I did. It runs through a little park, by a 9/11 memorial, by our local sailing school, and ends at a fancy-shmancy housing complex with their own private marina. How bougey.
I happened upon an adorable elderly couple admiring the ducks you can see in one of my photos and they waved me over to them. The woman told me that the ducks had JUST been born and the mama wouldn't leave their side until all the little ducklings could walk/swim by themselves. I have no idea if any of that was true, but it was such a cute interaction. Sweet people. Sweet ducklings!
My 6 months of maternity leave have come to a close and sometimes I look back and feel like I didn't take advantage 100% as well as I could have, but I did the best given the struggles that come along with postpartum life. Bottom line, I got to spend SO much quality time bonding with my babe and I'm so lucky to have had the opportunity to stay home for so long with him.
