First day back at work & my first visit to our brand-spankin’-new office!
I’m a few days late posting this, but it’s been a crazy week. I had my first day back on Wednesday and I had to commute into the city to visit our new office and get my new laptop and phone set up. I was sorta dreading the subway ride, as I was lucky enough not to have to grab the subway to get to our old office, but it wasn’t the sweaty, crowded, rushed experience I remember. The subway is really still just not nearly as crowded post-COVID.
The big thing I was really nervous about was the fact that our office is 80+ floors up. I am NOT a fan of heights.. at all. I got a huge surge of anxiety in the elevator on the way up, but it quickly went away and I was actually fine for the day. Much better than expected! I met some new folks, got a tour of the office which is GORGEOUS and super high tech and fancy. Digital screens everywhere to make basic office functions simpler, standing desks, cozy little nook-like breakout work spaces, espresso machines, sparkling water taps, living plant walls, a library, live-edge tables, couches galore.
I’m grateful that I still have over a month of full-time working from home, but after this first experience, I’m not as bummed about our eventual return to the office as I was. I’ll take it!
