lanque hasn’t really intended to be a stranger per say after they’ve entered the mansion together, but he hasn’t been particularly in close proximity to mettaton either. the machine working it on the dance floor, the troll frankly downing too much of the champagne. it takes a lot to get him drunk, and if the alcohol is free? it’d be rude to hold back. when he feels he’s had enough to forget everything the next day, he stumbles and turns ready to finally join mettaton.

Whether he meant the stars or the reflection of the sight was unclear.

But if that makes the other mech smile then he’s glad to be of some assistance. The doctor did have a fascination for stars too---

Though really, there was no need. The other already seemed shiny enough on his own---his own star, maybe.
