for some alien races, the continuance of their species was all that mattered. war had ravaged their race. in an effort toward total subjugation, they had suffered the direct consequence of their hubris. in one final ditch effort to prevent total eradication, they sent one of their greatest minds out into the cosmos, tethering his consciousness to an artifical intelligence. this journey had led him to earth, where he hid among the populace, biding his time until he’d found the perfect host to invade.

hayashi ren, japan.

his body proved receptive to the many, many changes the artificial intelligence had in mind. eventually, one had to wonder how much of ren was left. he lived in perfect control for an undisclosed number of years, until one day, ren had began to regain parts of his consciousness. what was once total control, became a battle for the helm.

in the end, ren had won. but with no way to eject the AI from his body, he chose assimilation. harmony over domination. perhaps his people back home could learn from their joint effort. with their new power realized, the pair began to learn how to work in unison. their union led them to fortitude hall, where their expansive knowledge base and unique bond could be of use.

behind the hero :    with ren mostly in the drivers seat, his personality remains dominant. with years blocked from his memory, he’s learning to adjust to a world that changed in the blink of an eye. he can oftentimes be seen conversing with some unseen force, and at times, the ai attached to him may speak on his behalf.
