I was genuinely not prepared for the radical empathy and genuine appreciation for differences like mental illness, learning disabilities, addiction, and neurodivergence in 100 Girlfriends.

Therians, object sexuality, nonverbal autism, age regression, and more are taken seriously and treated as just another way to be. One girl is chubby and nearly seven feet tall, and she's considered just as desirable as the model. The girl who's always grinning vacantly because her brain doesn't get enough blood? Rentarou understands and learns how to read her emotions in other ways. Everything about these girls, even the "bad" things, gets celebrated.

I feel like people are sleeping on this one because of the ecchi content, but this series seems to genuinely, truly LOVE women.

100gfs you can't do this to me, you can't have this very nice and sweet chapter about the anxieties if creation, imposter syndrome and these two really bonding over their shared love of stories and then have them both chug monster energy together

There's something incredibly marvelous and mind boggling that the 100gfs polycule has gotten up to 30 members, an astonishingly absurd amount of not only romantic relationships, but literally just even a high number characters to include in an ensemble cast story

And yet they are all still quite distinct and well characterized (if rather one-note sometimes) even going to the lengths of spending multiple chapters without the protagonist in it just to ensure that each of the girls is well fleshed out and their relationships with the other girls make sense! And then you remember that the manga is called 100 Girlfriends for a good reason and having proven that they can get to 30, it slowly dawns on you that they are not bluffing in any way shape or form and they truly and sincerely intend to create 100 unique girlfriends and integrate them all seamlessly into the cast

Karane Inda x Shizuka Yoshimoto

Karane Inda sighed as she walked up the cold school stairs

I'm here pretty early, so the others wouldn't be here yet, Karane thought as she opened the door to the roof. But to Karane's surprise, Shizuka Yoshimoto was there, reading her favorite book Circlet Love.

Karane's face went bright red as she stammered "It's not like I thought I would be alone for a bit!"

Shizuka Yoshimoto raised her head at the shock of both Karane being there and Karane's Voice.

Shit, Karane thought as she thought about last time when Shizuka was scared of her (Go to chapter 5 of the manga for the details). I didn't want to scare her again! Why am I like this?

"I am sorry for" "startling thou," Shizuka Yoshimoto's phone spoke for her. "For we were sure that we would be alone here."

Shizuka then noticed that Karane was crying.

"Pray" "are you alright?" Shizuka asked. "We can go." "If that's what you wish."

"It's not like I'm crying or anything!" Karane yelled. "I just cut some onions, okay?"

"I see," Shizuka tapped the screen of her phone to look for the right sentences. "Sorry for startling you." The app quickly continued, "Do you wish for me to leave?"

"No!" Karane said before quickly adding, "But why are you here? Shouldn't you be at the library"

"There were a lot of people there." "and I panicked a bit," Shizuka explained.

"Ah," Karane said. "I'm just feeling like a breath oh fresh air."

Take a deep breath, Karane Inda thought to herself. She doesn't seem to be scared. That's a relief.

"What did you just say" "Karane Inda?" Shizuka Yoshimoto asked.

"What are you talking about?" Karane blurted. "It's not like I'm glad you aren't scared of me."

Shizuka looked at her with a look Karane couldn't place.

Oh, I said something stupid, Karane Inda thought, bracing herself for whatever might happen.

Shizuka walked up to Karane. "I'm also glad" "that I do not fear you" "Karane Inda."

Shizuka then hugged Karane with as much force as she could.

Karane Inda blushed and yelled "It's not like I like you hugging me or anything!" at the top of her lungs, making sure not to fling the poor Shizuka off to space.
