Yesterday, I voted. Today, August 19th, 2020, marks the 100 year anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment. 🌟 🌟 100 years that women finally won the right to vote. That's it. 100 years. 4 years ago I cast my vote for what I thought would be the first Women President. She won by nearly 3 million votes, but our system is still rigged. It was rigged when they wrote "All men are created equal" and it was rigged when they wrote "We the People..." it was set up to benefit white, land-owning men, and more often than not, it still does. That's a different essay, that I've written several times. 🌟 🌟 This year, I'm voting for a woman Vice President. It doesn't have quite the same hope and feelings as when I cast that vote 4 years ago, but yesterday, almost everyone I voted for was a woman who I truly felt was best for the job. 🌟 🌟 Women are still substantially underrepresented in Congress. There are many human rights and equal rights we are fighting for, but 100 years ago, we fought for, demanded, and got the ability to make our voices louder, to make them matter.
