Monday May 8th

Day 1750

People of the internet, you thought it was all over.

But the blog lives on.

I haven’t really had time to blog much this month so after the trip I’ve taken a mini-hiatus. The nature of my job has changed and I’m doing longer hours so that’s contributed a bit, also Ally and I have been hunting for a new house, so our weekends the last little while have been spent at open houses.

My family has visited a lot too this past month, which isn’t bad, so I just haven’t had the free weekends to blog.

But today let’s get back at it!

Let’s start with the Eurotrip video, which is coming together very slowly. I took hours of footage every day and my Macbook hard drive can only handle so much, so I’ve found it hard to put it together piece by piece.

But it’s coming.

So instead I’ll blog about what I seem to always turn to on a slow blogging day, Jiu Jitsu.

Tonight when we rolled after instruction I got paired up with James again, a man who we call ‘The Mountain’ in class. He’s a monster of a person so the key to grappling with him is to somehow not let him on top of you.

After a year of training I finally caught him in an arm-bar and made him tap. I’ve gotten some half-ass taps before where I knew the guy I was rolling with was letting me finish for some good white belt practice. This one was the real deal though, I climbed ‘The Mountain’ and put on a tight arm bar until he couldn’t go on any further.

Today I got my first legit tap in Jiu Jitsu.
