The Guard have been struggling through for so long, abandoned by those that once claimed they'd always have their backs. Fox had long given up on the fantasy of his brothers seeing through the lies that came out instead of the things he so desperately wanted to say, that they'd suddenly break their comm silence and help him out from this hell, like they'd promised. But Wolffe meant it when he made that promise.
