Yule is tomorrow! Yay! How have we been? I hope all is well and if not I hope that you are ok and taking things at your own pace this season. Yule is not always a positive time for everyone, myself included, but I hope something can bring a smile to your life at least once this time of year.
Yule (EWE-elle) begins and ends Dec. 21-January 1, 2022. It is the time in which the dark relinquishes its hold on the light and the days begin to get brighter and longer. The Sun king is reborn, winter is giving way to spring. Here are some things and activities to do for Yule this year.
Deck the halls with evergreen, bayberry, milk thistle, holly and mistletoe, dried orange slices, cinnamon, cloves, rosehips and rosemary
Decorate Yule tree with red, silver, and gold
Make a Yule log (decorate with evergreens, holly, ivy, and douse with cider and ale) and place it in a fire to burn through Yule. (Please practice fire safety)
Make wreaths of dried orange slices or peels, rosemary, cinnamon and cloves
Wear red, green, gold and silver.
Carry ruby, garnet, emerald, and diamond
Sing carols
Make ornaments
Drink cider
Bake cookies, cakes and pastries
Cook up a feast with Family and Friends
Cleanse
Clean
Remember loved ones passed and honor their memory with stories and song
Meditate
Let go of the past and look towards the future
Gift shopping and wrapping for loved ones
Spend time with loved ones
Watch the sunrise and set
Self Reflection
Make a Yule Candle (Decorate a white, red and/or green candle much like you would a Yule log) and light it for everyday of Yule
Altar Decoration
Make hot chocolate
Read by candlelight and snuggle under a warm blanket with a glass of cider, hot chocolate or chocolate candy
