Cookies

Day 1 for @12daysofhatchetfield

Paul watches as Emma carefully moves the fresh sugar cookies, cut into various holiday themed shapes, onto a cooling rack. He can pick out snowflakes and wreaths amongst the treats.

“So walk me through the plan again,” he says as he reaches for a cookie.

Emma swats his hand. “Tom, Becky, and Tim are coming over and we're going to decorate them and then tonight we'll light the next candle.”

Laughing slightly, Paul rubs the back of his hand, as if it actually hurt. “So Tim celebrates both Christmas and Hanukkah?”

“Yeah.” Emma slides the last cookie onto the rack. Setting the tray aside, she smiles at Paul. “Come help me mix the icing. We'll need green and red-”

“Blue and white,” he finishes, smiling. 

Emma grins slightly. “Exactly.”
