My most recent painting for @jordanillustrates’ Artober challenge. I was struggling to come up with an idea for “Golden + Mist” but I put on an episode of MASH and decided to lean hard into the word golden and paint one of my favorite characters.

everything in this painting is something that black bears eat in the fall in new york state! acorns, beechnuts, blackberries, huckleberries, brook trout, honey!

goldenrod and teasels mean fall up where I live, and when the sun rises before the mist burns off, it turns everything gold.
