The Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards honors courageous youth
On October 14, 2016 some of Yorkshire’s bravest children and young adults were honored at the Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards. These youth, selected through a nomination process on the website, were given a special recognition for making a contribution to their community and for inspiring others through their personal achievements under difficult circumstances.
In 1991 the St. James’s Place Wealth Management Group set up the St. James Foundation Group which is the organization behind the Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards (YCCA). The St. James’s Place Foundation, through the years has raised and distributed over £46mil for good causes benefiting youth. Adding to that, all the funds raised by the Foundation is matched pound for pound by the generosity of the FTSE 100-listed St. James’s Place Wealth Management Group.
The Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards are also supported by selected Yorkshire-born Ambassadors, such as Louis Tomlinson. Louis has served as ambassador for the Yorkshire Children of Courage since 2014 (read more about his years of support here ). He has especially been a big support to the organization through his social media, reaching over 23 million people with just his Twitter account, alone.
(From their website):
Other celebrities and personalities from the world of business, sports and entertainment also serve in ambassador capacities like Louis, raising funds, social media awareness, and participation in the Awards ceremony when possible. This year was YCCA’s sixth year honoring inspirational Yorkshire youth. Recognition of local groups contributing significantly to the welfare of the children in the community were added to the awards event in 2014, now having grown to more than 750 people participating. These young award recipients have some of the most inspirational stories facing life’s challenges head on. Their stories and inspiring videos can be found here.
