I was looking for gunky bundles and found a damaged 'bjd' instead. She was a mess.
So I have two projects for the weeks ahead :
Celia the BJD: sculpting in Milliput for neck and hips then sanding and testing wig ideas.
Delilah Noir: acetone goop repair for the ankle, making a head cap, removing the pink overpaint from the lips, possibly filling the mouth slightly with coats of black + acrylic matte. Delilah probably won't be staying, she's a fun project but I'd want to modify her significantly.
photos under cut:
Celia's wiring. I'm not touching the eye makeup until the last minute, it gives her a cheekiness that demands attention - I will get around to doing the work!
Delilah looked like she'd been splashed with coffee. Her wig was glued to the front and back of her head (no head cap) with non water-soluble (or alcohol for that matter) glue so I gently pried it off and soaked it before removing the glue with my finger nails strand by strand from the wig (acetone for the head).
Her putty was both hard and turning into dust while also oily and pretending to be soft which is a very odd textural sensation... and had cracked one of the eyes a little. I removed the eyelash and replaced it with acrylic matte sealant for glue (dries clear, no clumps, water-soluble) as well as repainting the chipped lower lash lines.
She had stains on her upper eyes at the nose bridge, the eyeliner doesn't quite fit the eye with pink parts showing - the lipstick also doesn't quite match the lip sculpt. It's taking me a while to remove the pink, I'm thinking it's maybe enamel paint
Please excuse the green putty - since fixed it. There's potential in that face, I like the heavy lidded teen goth y2k look but it's missing something beyond my skillsets.
World's Biggest Gun, to be used at Panama, ready for tests
Sixteen-inch guns for Panama on specially constructed cars used to transport it.
This is one of the big monsters upon which America will have to rely for protection against any foreign power that may get the notion to seize the Panama canal. This sixteen-inch disappearing gun is the biggest gun of its class in the world, and is capable of throwing a projectile twenty-one miles. The gun proper weighs 200 tons and was made some months ago at Watervliet, N. Y., from where it was shipped to Watertown, Mass., to have the carriage fitted. Several mes along the way its extraordinary weight spread the rails. A few days ago it was shipped to the Sandy Hook proving grounds on a train of fourteen specially constructed cars. The gun will ultimately be used in the fortifications at the Panama canal.

On Sunday I completed my first weaving/sewing project by turning the woven fabric into something other than a scarf or table runner. Now, don’t get me wrong, I do love making those too, but having something a little different adds variety to my work and let’s me learn new skills.
The woven fabric is now, as you can see, an accent pillow sham aka pillow cover, whichever name you prefer.
I am really pleased with how the Mandala yarn from Lion Brand came out. This colorway is called Chimera. There are more colors in the yarn, but I didn’t weave enough to get all of them represented.
Next time I use this color of the yarn, I might start with the inside colors first and see how that works up too. I love these colors a lot, though.
As you may remember from my last post, I didn’t get enough fabric to cover an 18″ square pillow. This pillow is 16″ square.
I will again attempt an 18 inch pillow on the next project which I hope to warp up tomorrow morning. I have adjusted the width and the length that I will be weaving so it should work out this time.
Wish me luck that I get enough fabric on the new attempt...
