Ivory Wool Knitted Petticoat, possibly Dutch, 1700-50

Saucer, enamelled with a few ships in full sail, the centre painted with a large ship flying Dutch flags, its stern bearing the arms of Zeeland with a red lion emerging from waves and inscribed with the date 1700, accompanied by a small boat carrying passengers and crew in the foreground, the rim bordered with a gematric pattern in red, black, and turquoise enamels. 19.2cm (7 5/8in) diam.
