commentary from the curator: I'm so sorry, but the closest I could get here was plaid, so I hope that's okay! I really did scour my 1830s sources, and the most I found was a dress with a checkered apron that actually ended up being in a previous poll. if you'd like me to look for checkered things in another decade, feel free to let me know! ☺️
