So today is my brother's 6th death anniversary, and these two people were added to my family because of it. Both were able to attend our balloon release today in his honor. In the middle is the woman who was the cause of his death. She made a mistake and on the early morning of July 31, 2011 she was intoxicated while driving and hit Kevin head on after he had just gotten off from work. Since she has done her time (and still is in other ways out of jail), but no amount of time can fix something like this tragic event, and she has to live with it for the rest of her life. But my family chose to forgive her. She was and is incredibly remorseful and has dealt with the consequences full force. Harboring such resentment and unforgiveness towards another person only hurts yourself, and considering how she's also chosen to relive the event many times over by telling her part of the story with my mom during our non-profit events only shows how much she wants to help raise awareness with us so others never have to experience something like this again. And to her left is Melvin, the man who received my brother's heart after he died. My brother was an organ donor saving four people's lives in total and we've had the pleasure of multiple times getting to spend time with him, and he doesn't take his second chance at life for granted. #Love #Live #Forgive • • • #organdonation #organdonor #donatelife #forgiveness #blueeyes #iam1n3 #1n3 #1n3day #balloons #celebratelife #family #good #smiles #buffalowildwings #bww #KevinYates #RIP (at Buffalo Wild Wings)
