Deputy Tracey Newton saved a life this week, this time off the job. She donated an organ to a total stranger, a 28-year-old California woman who had long suffered from kidney disease.
Deputy Newton was inspired to donate by a fellow colleague, Deputy Alicia Lopez, who donated her kidney last year to a three-year-old boy.
“All it took was one kidney to totally, radically change someone’s life,” Deputy Newton said.
So today is my brother's 6th death anniversary, and these two people were added to my family because of it. Both were able to attend our balloon release today in his honor. In the middle is the woman who was the cause of his death. She made a mistake and on the early morning of July 31, 2011 she was intoxicated while driving and hit Kevin head on after he had just gotten off from work. Since she has done her time (and still is in other ways out of jail), but no amount of time can fix something like this tragic event, and she has to live with it for the rest of her life. But my family chose to forgive her. She was and is incredibly remorseful and has dealt with the consequences full force. Harboring such resentment and unforgiveness towards another person only hurts yourself, and considering how she's also chosen to relive the event many times over by telling her part of the story with my mom during our non-profit events only shows how much she wants to help raise awareness with us so others never have to experience something like this again. And to her left is Melvin, the man who received my brother's heart after he died. My brother was an organ donor saving four people's lives in total and we've had the pleasure of multiple times getting to spend time with him, and he doesn't take his second chance at life for granted. #Love #Live #Forgive • • • #organdonation #organdonor #donatelife #forgiveness #blueeyes #iam1n3 #1n3 #1n3day #balloons #celebratelife #family #good #smiles #buffalowildwings #bww #KevinYates #RIP (at Buffalo Wild Wings)

#Repost @mrs_angemi with @repostapp ・・・ This is a heart explant. An explanted heart is a sick heart taken out of a patient who is in need of another heart or a heart transplant. This sick heart will be sent to pathology and analyzed to see exactly what was wrong with it. Just looking at this heart I see that it is HUGE which is what we call cardiomegaly. The heart is STILL beating!!! This patient would have died soon with a heart like this. Because of the generosity of organ donation, this patient now has a chance to have a whole new life. Please understand the importance of organ donation. Put yourself on a list to be one!!!! #iheartautopsy #donatelife #organdonor #giftoflife #transplant #pathology #science #explant #hearttransplant
Just got these three done. I'm up to 10 tattoos now. Got the @panicatthedisco symbol on my toe, a lady bug on my shoulder (my 'mom' tattoo) and the organ donor symbol on my arm (my 'dad' tattoo and because I strongly believe in being a donor). Now to heal them out. #carolinacustomtattoos #carolinacustomink #ladybug #tattoo #newink #organdonor #panicatthedisco #patd
My take on Shane Dawsons': "The Human Experiment Conspiracy Theory"
This is one of the more interesting videos of Shane's that I have watched. Like my last post, this isn't an investigative type of video; it is a podcast situation where Shane and his friends are all gathered, talking about these theories.
One of Shane's friends explained a time when he went to the DMV and was asked the question of whether he wanted to be an organ donor. When he said no, the employee at the DMV told him that the little heart symbol wouldn't be on his ID, but that he would get added to a registry list of people, and he would have to do it himself.
Throughout the podcast, we are given many examples of this going horribly wrong, like a time when a brain-dead man was having his organs harvested because he was an organ donor, and he woke up during the surgery. Or when a man's son was on life support and the doctors wanted to begin removing his organs, but the dad held them at gunpoint to not do that, and then the son woke up a few hours later and is still alive today.
They then found that this has been happening a lot more frequently around the country, using the New York Times as their source.
So essentially, the truth is that Organ procurement companies (the middleman between the organ donor and the person receiving the organ) were getting pressured by the government in 2020 for not facilitating enough organ transplants, so they were given an ultimatum to make more transplants happen.
From 2020 to the present day, the amount of donations they have facilitated has tripled, which is causing people to be wary about whether to become an organ donor or not.
