Finally got myself a PS2, and got it all set up~!!!
Started the story~!
If only my phone could capture it better— I configured the game's brightness more, so I could see where I was going; then messed with my TV's Game filter on the picture effect settings. Result: a beautifully evaluated crisp crimson shade! I love it! It's gorgeous!
So far I got Vincent knocked out 3x from trying to work with the camera movement. "I'm sorry, Vince! That camera is quirky, it moves too quickly in certain areas, and then slow in another!"
Got to hear one line I never thought I'd hear Vincent say to getting knocked out, "Is this the end..?" My bgm was still on the default setting, so maybe it was somewhere along those lines. Made it to Chapter 3, though!
I miss this. Buying cute moments and gag comics of Final Fantasy VII doujinshi and translating them to the best of my ability, collecting more art of Vincent Valentine because... I can't help but love that character. He's relatable, a very empathetic towards kind of character, and he's a real badass with a deep voice that makes my heart flutter, lmao. He's a comfort character for me, ultimately. I find myself coming back to him when I'm figuring out who I should be after all that's happened in my life so far. I miss how I was before I, basically, gave my soul to a complete piece of shit I regret falling for like an idiot.
I miss feeling alive. I miss being allowed time to be in my head with never-ending dreams that made me feel lively, instead of these memories that bring me down and make me enraged by my stupid choices. I'm still very slowly recalling how I was six years ago from now. It makes my head ache to search for those memory files. Bits and pieces show up, but they don't stay. It's as if I'm finding edges of the files peeking out of the locked file cabinet, and as cautiously as I am pulling that edge out to see the full page, I'm only tearing it. Tearing off parts of that file's content into several pieces, until I'm able to find the key and do my best to correctly assemble those bits of content back together.
Life has been shit.
And here's my sentimental note.
Hoping things will eventually go back to how they used to be. How safe it used to feel. How alive... we all were.
So cool that the game's icon is Vincent’s Cerberus gun charm.
I feel like Dirge of Cerberus' soundtrack doesn't get enough credit. Every theme is made so well. You feel a lot of emotion remembering where the themes played, or even if you've never listened to them before or played/watched clips of the game. They're all so good! It's day 3 of listening to the soundtrack again; I've had Undulation, Prologue, A Girl Named Shelke, A Proposal, Memories with Lucrecia, Discovery in Sadness, and Hope for the Future play in my head a lot without annoying me.
It feels so wrong to have a PS2 chapter select screen say 2025 instead of 2006 or, at the latest, 2010 TwT
I was able to get onto Dirge of Cerberus for a little while. Got to record the Prologue on my phone. I didn't record when I started up the story because I was too excited and jittery. The theater cinema in the game were made so good, it makes you want to keep watching it over and over. The Synaptic NetDive on the Shera is my top favorite because of the space background and showing what happens to the Planet and the Lifestream in Lucrecia's breakdown on Omega's purpose for existing.
*My phone camera doesn't like focusing on the TV screen.*
The Hydra rifle is pretty~! It's funny; first, I thought the Cerberus handgun looked cool because it's triple-barreled, then I discovered Chaos in this game years ago and thought the Death Penalty gun was cool, and now I'm like, "Ooh~! Hydra's preeeeetttyyyy~! ☆_☆"
